Friday the 13th...fluke or not???

Hey guys,

I am the proud owner of an 03' red Evo that I bought with less than 20 miles. Feeling good about selling my 03' WRX (although it was completely reliable, I've had buyer's remorse since the first day), I drove off the lot, and have babied the car since the first mile I put on it. I work approx 70hrs/week (evo ownership isn't cheap!!), so I really haven't had much break-in time...so imagine my surprise when I went to the store on Friday the 13th (6 days after purchase), and my car wouldn't start at all!! Thinking I was doing something stupid, I called the dealership, (who really didn't help much at all) and they told me to get a tow truck over, and have it towed in to the dealership. The next morning, I called a friend to have her drop me off at the dealership (I was promised a free rental car), and imagine my surprise to see a mechanic sitting over my car as it was purring smoothly!! It ends up that the (main fusable link??) apparently busted, and they just simply replaced the fuse, and sent me on my merry way. I'm NOT superstitious, but I do wonder if you guys think this was just a fluke, or something to be concerned about?? It's been perfect ever since, but it sucks to have a gnawing doubt in the back of my head every time I turn the key. It's a fuse, but I get the impression that it doesn't bust often...has anybody else had something like this happen???

Why did the fuse blow? did they even check that out? if not then maybe they should look into it...

They said they "checked things out", and believe that is was just a bad fuse...but then they also said "we'll order you a spare fuse, and show you which one blew...in case this happens again". So I get the impression that they didn't really do much, aside from replace the fuse. To support the dealership though, you would think that if it's an electrical problem, it would bust the fuse almost immediately. I've logged on 300 miles since, and no probs...so I'm HOPING that it was just a bad fuse! Maybe I should ask them to run some engine diagnostics or something...(if they didn't already!!)

Happened to me too. one day walked out to the car and it just wouldn't started. Checked battery to see if I left the light on and it was good. I paniced, walked around the car for like 15 mins wondering what to do; and just out of lucked, opened the fuse box (which I know nothing about) and seen one blown. Drove to Autozone, replaced it - 3,000 miles later, no problems. weird.

Well guys, I am not quite that lucky! Exactly one week later, and my car won't start again! Luckily, the fuse busted when my car was in my garage at home...But this time, I called the dealer, and had them bring down a couple replacement fuses (it's the 40 amp ignition fuse). One after the other, they popped immediately as I tried to start the car - so I've got to get my car towed again...****! On the bright side, the tech was there to see I wasn't doing anything malicious, so they've actually been quite civil to me! They seem to think it'll be something obvious, like crossed wires or something --- this would seem to make sense, as the first fuse lasted awhile, (and after being towed) the second fuse lasted awhile, but then I popped 3 fuses in a row with the car not moving from it's spot - obviously something is touching something it's not supposed to! They told me that my car was towed to a few local auto shows, so maybe something got knocked loose on one of the trips or something - I'll keep you posted!

Well guys!

It's been a few days, but a lot has happened...I got the car back, and the fuse popped almost immediately! This being the third time that it's left me stranded, I figured it was time to discuss a new car (lemon law technically requires 4 times in a year for my state). As you can imagine, the GM of the dealership wasn't exactly excited to take my car back, but (believe it or not), we eventually came upon an agreement, and I drove away this last friday with a new silver EVO! I'm not saying it was a piece of cake to do this, but let me tell you that there are way too many nightmare stories about Mitsu dealerships out there...maybe I found the secret words to say to make a dealer fold or something!! No experience like mine could be called a bad experience, but I don't feel I was mistreated, and (as you can imagine) I'm quite happy with the end-result...

DAMN! RIGHT ON! Something was going on about that car that they didn't want you to (or others) to find out! Maybe like "We whored it around all over the place before you got it".
