Underseat extinguisher mount???
Underseat extinguisher mount???
Hi guys,
I posted this a while ago and it was deleted for some reason before I ever got a reply. I really could use some help!
Some of the clubs that I do driving schools with (like the Porsche Club of America) require a 2.5 lbs fire extinguisher to be mounted metal-to-metal within reach of the driver. I really don't want to drill holes into my floorpan or tranny tunnel.
Does anyone make an underseat mount for the Evo? These are popular with the Porsche and M3 crowd since they're technically metal-to-metal. It's basically just a bracket that attaches to the seat mounts on the floor and holds a slim extinguisher just below the seat-bottom.
Any leads?

Maybe you can get Brey-Krause to build one for the Evo?

I e-mailed Brey-Krause about this and they said they didn't have anything yet, but they might put a kit together if there's enough interest. So far it looks like there isn't

I guess there are fewer track junkies around here than I thought.

in all seriousness the tracks around here (road courses) that I know of don't require it. Are you sure porsche club requires one? I have a friend who runs with them often and he doesn't have one... I hope its not required, then its just more money to be spent evo+track=

we have the ****tiest laws in my country...
everyone breaks the speed limit daily and gets away with it.
but suprising for off road racing...they insist that you have an extinguisher as well as a helmet.it's a must!

As for the PCA, there's no general rule. Maybe your friend's chapter doesn't require one. The PCA chapters around here (Rennsport and NER) both require 2.5 lbs extinguishers mounted metal-to-metal within reach of the driver.
