Car has 145k on it and is a 2003. Motor rebuild has 30k on it and tranny/tcase both less than 60k not sure if that matters (dont think it does) for insurance purposes. Has prob 7-8k in mods if not more. Worried about me getting screwed and insurance totaling it. i have American Family, my collision deductible is $500 but since its my fault aftaid rates will go up a lot as I'm 23 (never had accident before).
Well slid into a guardrail in the rain at about literally 15 mph so as I didn't hit incredibly hard I don't believe anything underneath fender is broken. No idea how it happened but it did and it blows. Now as in the pictures you will see I think the rear bumper can just be painted so not to worried about that aspect. Also as you'll see the front bumper is hanging a bit but it has been like that for a long while so that is not truly "damaged" from this incident.
Of note. Headlight (wow HID OEM light is expensive :-( ) and fender and surely needing to be replaced. Both doors open fine so thinking maybe they can be straightened out a bit cause they aren't incredibly bad. Rear quarter panel prob not salvageable as its bent near bumper insertion/fender curve. Also FortuneAuto 500 coilover with Swift Springs is bent at top hat so will need to be fixed or replaced ($330 for new strut from FA so not too bad if I don't file that in the claim)
I will get better pics if ya'll need more

Just worried about buy back amount. Don't wanna start claim yet cause then I'm sure I'll get screwed. Was gonna take it to neighbors body shop yesterday but car won't start now fml. Starter of course has to go out now. Prob just have to pay the remaing $1400 on my car loan and get a personal loan for a cheap DD until I can save up money for parts to fix it :/
If I had to guess it's damn close considering year and millage

Ha yea there are. I will prob just have to let it sit in garage and fix things here and there over time cause there's no way I want it to get totaled out! With the front fender and headlight fixed it won't look toooo bad lol
The rear QP is the only thing that will actually require body work assuming you can find door, bumpers, Headlight, fender, sideskirt
Good luck getting her back to where she was def a nice ride man
Totaled unless you have a crappy adjuster. Remember insurance doesn't go by what they sell for on craigslist etc. While they should, wholesale values take priority and optional accessories don't help you at all. That means a roughly 8-11k value until you start arguing etc.
Keep in mind you have almost $2000 just off the headlight and fender. Add $150 to paint the fender. Best case scenario just refinishing the doors quarter and bumper, figure around $1000 for straightening out and paint.... but given it is half the car, they will probably write it for the whole car due to matching issues (typically 40% or more coverage justifies full spray), which would easily triple the paint bill. Being an insurance company, they are going to price out a new bumper most likely; if the damage to the quarter is worse than it looks they will price a quarter, another $600 or so plus a few hundred to graft it in (no paint).
Of course if you use used parts and a cheap body shop etc, you can probably get it all done for under $2k, depends on your standards. Fly by night insurance companies will do this too, but not quite as cheap as possible.
Either way, I'd buy it back if they do total it. If they don't, make sure there is no/minimal report on the vehicle history.

did the hood take a shot to? if that needs to be replaced as im doing my math then ya they ll total it
i have a 03 with 150k on it the po hit a guard rail on the right front of the car
repair list was such
hood $1200 oem and cant find aftermarket at all lol
right fender
right headlight assembly-- ungodly amount of money to like 1200
front bumper cover $350 oem
front radiator support $350 oem
paint for all of it -- 1000 dollars not including blending which i didnt have to do
front mount intercooler
radiator
front bumper lip
front air bag sensor crunched and SRS light iluminated
thats all i can think of -- the insurance adjuster came up with 79.85 % of the cars total value to fix it -- thus he totaled it --even though needs 80% of cars value to do so. that was what the po said when i bought it,
no frame damage at all, and ive all but finished my rebuild, got the salvage inspection in 6 days here in NY
hope this gives you an idea what your looking at, if your hood is ok i think they ll not salvage it -- thats my 2 cents

its 70% in the body shop i work to total a car it may or may not depend on the area but thats coming from adjusters and our computers are set up to only go to 70% but then they do a total loss eval and depending on the actual shape the rest of the car is in they will go higher. ive seen cars as high as 85% get fixed because the car was in amazing shape. if the quarter is ripped they may want it replaced but if that spot missing is just rolled under its probably fixable. ive seen some **** that shoudl of been replaced fixed instead and u couldnt tell if the body guy is good. the doors depending on if the inner structure has been damaged it may just need a skin. all the adjusters that come out to my shop never account to respray the whole car they just blend the other panels that touch the new paint. if the bumpers arent cut and the mounting tabs are all there they can probably be fixed. also if they try low balling u if they do total it start printing out sale ads of your same year and ROUGHLY the same milage and use those to work the numbers. if u can prove they are selling for alot more than what they are willing to give you they most likely will come up in price on the car. i did it with my wrx when i totaled it.

I'd prepare for the eventuality of them totalling it, since they'll probably value it at something more like 11-12k. Definitely part it out before you give it back though, so might be time to start gathering stock parts if you're missing them. That's money you won't get back.
