Weight difference of carbon fibor hood & trunk????
I bought this hood. It's top quality. Can't beat it, imo.

You are correct, that most of the carbon hoods and trunks available in the aftermarket are junk. They don't fit properly, and they are wet resin construction over fiberglass skeletons, that don't reduce weight and don't offer any of the strength characteristics of carbon fiber (when manufactured properly)
There ARE carbon parts available from All American Racers that are far lighter and stronger than the stock pieces......however, they are also far more expensive. In order for carbon to achieve its full potential for strength, it is used in a pre-preg form, which has the resin injected into the carbon fabric. The carbon is stored in a freezer prior to production, where it is layed up in a mold and then cured in an autoclave which increases the atmospheric pressure significantly and raises the heat, to remove all air from the carbon. This is why carbon is used in F1 cars, the aerospace industry, and in many applications where aluminum is far too heavy and weak.

It's identical to stock, right down to the hood prop hole, wiper sprayer holes, etc... You'll just need to transplant the screen and the sprayer parts to make it identical to stock only stronger and lighter.
