I don't want holes in my front bumper
Hey guys,
I am proud to say that I am the owner of a fairly well-built Mitshubishi Evolution 8 in Wicked White. I came from the Volkswagen scene via vwvortex.com and currently still own a 97 Jetta VR6 that's got quite a bit of bells and whistles as well.
Anyways, here is the list of mods done
Engine:
AMS GT30r full Tubro kit with supporting mods, AMS intercooler / piping , AMS intake , AMS turbo back exhaust
walbro 255 fuel pump , fuel labs pressure regulator, 780cc injectors, GSC 264 cams valve springs/ retainers, Tial external waste gate, APS twin vent blow off valve , Hallman boost controller , arp head studs, torque damper, solid motor mounts, jmf mini battery kit
Tuned by Sean Ivey @ Iveytune on a conservative 24psi
Clutch:
Exedy twin disc
upgraded clutch lines
Suspension:
Tien S-tech lowering springs
MR front / rear sway bars
Breaks:
Stock brembos with hawk ceramic break pads
Steal braided break lines
Powerslot rotors
Wheels/tires
Rota grids: titanium 18x 9.5 +22
Nexen tires: just bought last week. 10/10 tread
Interior:
Gauge cluster: innovate wideband, defi oil gauge, defi boost gauge
Clarion head unit: Bluetooth , satellite radio, wireless talk
Security:
Viper alarm
Ravelco kill switch mounted under steering wheel: hardwired to ECU.
All in all, it's a very fast car. Fastest I've ever owned actually. But my dilemma now is how to mount the front license plate without having to drill holes into my bumper. I was contemplating on buying one of those brackets to go where the left vent is at (assuming you're standing in front of the car) and then just using double-sided tape to hold it in place. Has anyone else done this mod before or have any comments or suggestions? Thanks in advance

ummm, get the bracket, dont drill holes because the plate will block direct flow to the intercooler. there will be no drilling required which all evo owners should know and that is where it is supposed to go. have fun.
Here's one in the fs section:

I was in the same position as you, didn't want to drill the front. I ordered a bracket that required drilling in the top of the left vent area but have not put it on yet. I ended up zip-tieing (ghetto, I know) but it doesn't look too bad to me and I still didn't drill the bumper.

Another option is just leaving the plate off. I've had mine off on my daily EVO for a whole year and haven't had any problems. I just leave the plate in the car. If you were to get pulled over, you can say I'm waiting on Mitsu to get them in, because I need the bracket. It has worked for me. I would just leave it off, but that's me until it became an issue. Your car looks real clean man, I'm liking the rims

I solved my issue here in CA by drilling UP into my bumper from the drivers side vent area....
I picked up this $15 universal bracket (available in different colors).

Ultimately, if you want to remove the license plate for a weekend track day or for a photo shoot, you can and the holes are drilled holes are not visible.

Nice purchase, however I know listing all the mods that are done is cool, but for future reference, I'd leave this bit out...

You'd be surprised what people do to steal evo's
edit: ty for sharing that link above, just bought a black one!

It does look ghetto but its pretty sturdy. I screwed the plate and Perrin cover to a universal bracket I picked up from Advance Auto Parts (link below). I then zip-tied the top using the bracket and bottom left plate hole to minimize any movement. To "pad" the plate so it didn't scratch up the bumper, I used some 3M Dual Lock. You could probably hide it better than I did. I was in a hurry to get the **** on since the deadline "fix-it" ticket was the next day.

I see I see. Nice, yeah I might try the 3m double sided tape method for now with the universal bracket. I there already is a pre drilled hole there anyways.
Past: I will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks.
