Which brand of gauges to buy?
Ive had a werid constant issue with my prosport mechanical boost gauge. Their customer service was great and they replaced my guage with no questions asked. I still kept having the same issue with the replacement gauge so idk what to make of it.
This is what would happen. Only after an autox run, never after a hot lap on a track or any driving on the street, my gauge needle would stick at the "0" mark regardless of how Im accelerating. I checked connections and leaks, I verified that this was an incorrect reading. Like I said, their customer service was great but this has been too annoying so Im gonna go with a different brand and see what happens.

and wouldnt read anything else until you boosted passed that number.. So as soon as i Hit 1psi it would work again
If it was stuck at 12 PSI it wont read/move until I hit 13 PSI
the vacuum line goes straight to the gauge, simple mechanical boost gauge. I checked the lines, fittings, and connections for leaks. I even teed it one time to my mityvac to diagnose. The mityvac gauge read correctly while the prosport was stuck at 0. I replaced the line with a silicone heavier wall piece in case the original one was somehow collapsing. It would still happen.

I recommend either AEM, Defi racer gauges, or STRi gauges. I wouldn't run Prosport (Procrap) if they paid me to, those gauges are complete crap! Send them back to China where they came from.
My evo came with stewert Warner gauges. Thinking about replacing em unless someone can vouch for them. Boost/egt/oil pressure. If and when I get a better manifold the egt get replaced with my innovative wideband.
Essentially all the gauges match up

Let me start off by saying this isn't a sales pitch but my honest findings after selling these gauge brands for a while.
Autometer- The standard for gauges with their massive selection. If you're trying to hit a certain look and don't care about features...just want a reliable gauge, then this is the line for you. Pretty much any color and style you want in both 52 and 60mm (ish as they're standard sizes). They just don't have all the peak/hold/warn functions like your other gauges do.
Stri - This is what I run in my car, specifically the DSD series, and actually picked up this line after I had mine for a while. They look awesome, are accurate, have all the features you need, and are fairly well priced. It's hard to beat their quality and features for the price. Their X-Line is even more affordable if you don't need all the bells and whistles the DSD's have. I probably sell more x-lines than any other gauge and only had a couple senders die (and they were from the same person so it might have been user error).
Defi - If you want features and looks these are the gauges for you. You spend a bit more but they're incredibly high quality and ridiculously accurate. I've sold a fair amount and never had any complaints with them.
Stack - They're somewhat ugly in my opinion but they are probably the highest quality gauge you can buy. They don't have a ton of options but if you just want something that works and you don't mind paying a bit more then this is for you.
AEM - Basically I sell these people who are **** about all their gauges matching and same their Wideband is pretty much the standard they're popular. Their digital read-out is also nice in case you're bad at reading analog stuff. Their analog gauges are also popular too, I think it's because of their basic design. Again, quality is there like with most AEM stuff so you dont' have to worry about issues.
Innovate - Don't have a ton of experience with these other than their widebands which used to suck but they turned it around. They now make some other gauge types too giving you options if you want everything to match. I just wish they'd come out with more gauge options to make it easier.
And of course I'm going to throw a shameless plug in after posting all of that: http://www.maximalperformance.com/store/gauges.html
