Steering wheel Shimmy from 65 mph +

My steering wheel has been vibrating and doing a side to side shimmy when i drive the car on the freeway above 65 mph. On the street it is fine, and feels normal.

I had all the wheels re-balanced and it still happens.

Could it be that the alignment is off?
Tire pressure is fine too.

What can be the possible cause of this?

^^ This..

You can have a tire balance ok, but still give you vibrations and noises because the balancer wont take into consideration feathered wear/cupping. Possibly road forcing will let you see how bad they are actually but its much easier to visually look and feel at your tire tread. One easy trick is to take the wheel off and slowly roll it on a level surface. It should roll straight without too much wobble or hopping, if not you need new tires and recheck your alignment.

I have done this to some wheels and when I roll them they have actually hopped up on and down because they were cupped so bad.

That's the thing. I just put new tires on the car. I just noticed tonight that when I turn the wheel left at full lock and drive (kind of like when pulling into a parking spot) There's a weird audible sound.I'm not sure how to describe the sound though.

I had an alignment done a month ago when i did the Whiteline Roll Center Kit.

When you turn your wheel fully, you should hear some noise from the power steering pump priming.

Does the sound increase or decrease with speed? Could be your wheel bearing(s). Kind of like a wowowowo sound? LOL...I don't know how else to describe it without sounding it out...LOL

I pulled the wheels off yesterday and rotated them; front wheels to the rear. In the process I jacked up the car and tried shaking the front wheels in and out but they won't move. If they moved in and out then I would think that the wheels bearing would be the culprit.

Checked the tie rods and everything seemed to be good. Checked all the boots and everything was good as well. No rotting or rips.

drove the car around on the freeway, same thing as before. Steering wheel vibrates from side to side at 65mph+

I noticed irregular wear on my new tires so I will get the car aligned again this week. Do you think the bad alignment is causing the steering wheel to vibrate from side to side?

All 4 rotor's were changed 4k miles ago.

Apart from the alignment I can't see anything wrong and it's rather frustrating and confusing if the alignment isn't the cause.

Like someone previously suggested, check for 'cupping' on all tires before going to the alignment shop....if not ask them to check for you and if they do find any cupping...make sure they show you which tires they are.

GL!

The most likely cause is wheels out of balance. If they didn't do a proper alignment maybe the balance is no better.
