boost problem in 5th gear
I would like to know as well. Post for everyone to see. High loads in fifth + boost will window your block and is a rod killer. This is known as well as to keep torque around 400 on stock rods. If you do copy the tables for it i would never go wot unless you are at red line in fourth.
The tuner is most likely a drag racer that has only ever dealt with worrying about 8-12 seconds of WOT. That is why most drag setups run a much leaner afr and more aggressive timing than a road course map. Saying that you can only run WG pressure in 5th is incorrect, you have to build your map to accommodate it.
We all know that you can not tune boost in 5th gear like you do 3rd & 4th. Low load + boost in 5th = boom. You can run "full" boost in the upper rpms in 5th gear. If you could not, all of us road course guys (DE, TT, W2W) would be blowing motors left and right. You have to make an educated decision on what the WGDC profile should be for that gear based on past experience and what the car has done w/ 3rd and 4th. Then you have to build in some thermal protection with fueling.
