Stereo removal and aftermarket install

Hey guys,

Thought I do this post in this section of the forum as well since the interior in the lancer/ralliart/evox is like 99.99% identical.

Anyhow, this is my 2-part series in how to remove the factory stereo install a aftermarket DIN stereo.

Please excuse my bad viking English, i'm trying to improve it but as a compliment I will add subtitles to the videos

And if you have any questions, post a comment and I will more the gladly answer (try to atleast).

Happy Tuning

Hi I got a 2008 Lancer a week ago, but the stereo is absolutely horrible. I want to build in my Sony Radio from my previous car (8 band eq, cd, bluetooth, aux, usb, the works) but I just want to make sure there are no vital things connected to the stock stereo, like alarm or climate control. Basically my question is, will the electronics go haywire if I install an aftermarket radio?

No it won't go crazy in any way You will have all the functions left. The only wires/harnesses you remove are those to the stock stereo, nothing else.

Thanks! That was really the only thing that bothered me about the lancer. Thank you so much for the prompt reply. I am a serious sound guy, and just hate an aweful stereo. You have no Idea what a relief this is!

If it turn on at least you got power, so somewhere in the speaker wiring is your fault. I would guess wrong ISO-cable to be honest. Hard to tell without looking at it.

I read that the stock amp powers the speakers and the amp control was in the stock head unit. If that's true which wire colour on the wiring harness needs to connect to the car cables in order to power the amp on. I reinstalled the stock unit to see if I had a blown fuse or something else. Everything works fine when I plug the stock sstereo in
