Horrible sound during deceleration - Evo IX

Turning onto a 55mph zone today floored in through first then once in second felt a weird vibration.

Strong noise began, louder in 4th than 1st.

Very loud on deceleration and mild while cruising, heres the best video i could take of it so far,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOp2V...ature=youtu.be

Thanks,

- Phil

DAMN. I was gonna say tc whine, but that sounds way to harsh. Could still be drive-train related.

Thats what I thought too, but after watching youtube vids it seems too loud.

Here is an outside video of it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y302Z...ature=youtu.be

Its much louder if going 45mph then decelerating.

Does it only happen when in gear or while coasting in neutral as well??

Its hard to say what it is over the internet. Stop driving it incase there is shrapnel floating around the cases that can cause more damage.Drain the tcase and trans and see if one has metal in it. If both are clean you will need to look elsewhere or bring it to a shop.

Yeah, your best bet would be to drain the fluid and look at it for metal shavings. It could be the rear diff, vibration through the driveline could make it hard to pinpoint where it's coming from.

Can't really hear much from the vid. It's not the clutch due to a tob right?

The sound is prevalent all the time, in any gear, clutch in or out. It does not make the noise in Reverse tho! Fluid in The tcase and tranny are full and clean.

Thanks,
Phil
