About my evo5 turbo
Hi, my friend found that my evo5 is not running a stock td05, it's an aftermarket td05 16g, does anyone know what's the different between the stock one and aftermarket one? How to recongnize if the turbo isnt a stock turbo? Aftermarket td05 = GT35 turbo? Sorry I don't know anything about turbos car.
a td06 16g will be a hybrid turbo, pretty hard to tell that how does your friend know did he fully pull the turbo out? either way a td06 16g is fairly close to the stock turbo, no one even close to a gt35 garrett and anything
He didn't pull out the turbo, so a gt35 is different?
A GT35 is not a TD05.
Have a look for the ID plate/etchings on the turbo. It is the rectangle-ish part on each of these turbos. The standard evo ones have identification etched into them, some aftermarket turbos have markings here, some don't.

Keep in mind that even if the plate indicates a stock turbo, it only means that is the stock intake housing, turbine wheels and exhaust housings can be swapped to increase the capabilities of stock turbos.
Let us know what you find out, then we can help you further.
