It is the steering angle velocity sensor and it is locate behind the steering wheel. You will need to remove; steering wheel, column cover, clock spring in order to get to it. Or at least that's what the directions say. Have never had to do this so I don't know for sure.

This sensor is also tied into the acd pump relay. Perhaps you could swap out that relay with a known good one. Who knows, you might get lucky. Hope this helps and good luck.

Oh! Sorry! I was using software from work, just looking through stuff really quick. You could also try this site, http://www.evoscan.com/vehicle-manuals . It may help or not, not sure, I've never used it, but was referred to this site by a friend.

well I checked out evoscan and it showed the sensor being the clock spring.

but on mitsubishiparts.net it has two different part numbers for them

Collision Catalog - 2006 - Mitsubishi - LANCER
steering column, shroud, switches & levers, sensor str angular velocity $94.55
Collision Catalog - 2006 - Mitsubishi - LANCER
electrical, restraint systems, air bag components, clockspring $163.90

sweet......

Ouch! Sorry! Like I said, it's some how tied into the ACD pump relay, I haven't taken the time to look at a wiring diagram yet though. You try swapping it out and hope for the best.
