Looks like the rumors are all true. Woo hoo!!!
We talked to a Mitsubishi rep about the evo coming to the us..well its true, only the car will not be the lancer evolution as know it. He said ther bring in a car that will replace the mirage here.. It will have a max of 170hp in a 2.0l engine and will be front wheel only.. basicaly its the same base car like the old evos and mirages. ralli art desings and produces the evo and they make only 400 units a yearfor the entire world- that 2000 LHD and 2000 RHD cars to share from..It would cost them big, big dollars the up this production of cars- then marking and the cost of insureance for mitsubishi owners..alot more goes into bring the car to the us. however a company called evolution imports is now bring the cars in and there us street legal... more info e-mail jason at euro16v@bellsouth.net or Adam at evolutionimports@aol.com
the new lancer is here to replace the old mirage line for mitsubishi. the new lancer us version is a 120hp front wheel drive car that uses the same base car- i was told that ther was going to be a 170hp version but the OZ rally edition still has the same power..
Mitsubishi upped worldwide production of the Evo VII for 2002 to 10,000 units from the 7,000 Evos they made the previous year. I don't know how many of these are LHD, but the total number is 10,000, not 4,000.
Also, from the prices you quoted in your other post I'm guessing you'll be selling a new Evo VII for around $60,000. But isn't Ralliart selling the same car here for $40,000 at the end of this year?

So.. any idea on the proposed cost of the EVO VII that Mitsubishi will be bringing here? Is it going to be around $25k just like it is in other countries? Now is everyone saying that the LANCER will be here in 2002 and NOT the EVO VII? If not then when is the proposed date of the EVO VII supposed to be here? I'm a little confused..

If the Evo makes it to the US it'll most likely be a 2003 model in late 2002. I'm guessing the price will be $27,000-$30,000, but since the car isn't even confirmed to come it's hard to really be sure.
