Jacking, Stands, and Pinch Rails

I know there are a few threads on this but slightly different question regarding this:

1, Is there any particular problem jacking up the car via the pinch rails? Seems like most people are trying to jack the car from the rear diff or wherever instead.. I always just jacked the car up by the pinch rails..

2, and more importantly, for those of you who have left the car up on stands for any period of time, have you noticed that one of the rear corners doesn't fully sit on the stand, at all? Both my evos did/do this, and I just assumed it was normal - just something related to minor imperfection, and the chassis being so stiff that it holds that way?

Basically, my point is this: I stored an evo for an entire winter with four stands, but it never touched the 4th stand - it sat on 3 stands for 3 months, the last corner never sagging down. Is the chassis just that stiff?

I was talking to a friend of mine, and he was pretty surprised that not all four corners sat on the stands

The rear diff is mentioned in the FSM or manual as a jack point, so no issue with that. That's where I usually jack the car when I want to raise the rear.

I use the pinch welds if I need just one corner or one side.

Could be the ground you're lifting on is uneven? or one of the jack stands is settling into the floor a bit

Only done once, but had it up on the rails for a couple days, sat flat on all four. No expert, just my 2¢.

even so, after 3 months in the air on essentially 3 stands, it never drooped down to touch the 4th stand

I have never used the pinch rails. I use the frame, like shown below:

My garage is slightly slanted but it's always sitting on all 4 stands.

So weird...

How is it possible that neither of my evos have enough flex in their chassis to droop down to sit on all 4 stands? The Mini does this too (not touching all 4 stands) but the car itself is so short.. Evo on the other hand, you'd think there would be enough flex in the chassis to bring one end down.. never had this happen though, even after 3 months of being up on stands

I use these guys so I don't think I can see the gap you're talking about, Kyoo:

I have left the car sitting on the frame rails for a few weeks before without issue as well.

I only ever jack by the rear diff and the front tow hook or jacking pad on the sub-frame.

My car gets jacked up in a stone driveway or a terribly uneven garage so. Never been on a completely flat surface to say

All 4 stands do support the car though.

Diff may be fine. I prefer not to jack on it or the frame rails though.

I stick to the pinch welds and the rear hook.

Served me well for this long

My car and several customer cars have spent weeks on stands, up to 6 months... I have never had a car sit on all four when lifting from the sides... But if you lift from the trans brace and the rear diff it seems to stretch the chassis and sits flat... For me. I almost got killed the first time i notice i was on 3... I started to jack up the car from the 2 stand side and it rolled on to the other stand... Scared the **** out of me cause i didnt know it was up. That when i figured it all out.

I lift my cars front to back... My coworker lifts side to side...

i have bent a trans brace from the jack sliding...

lol the last stand always has some wiggle for me, visible and tangible. if it were just a flat surface on top of the stand i could just slide it right out
