When I took the underbody tray off (for the first time) to jack the front end of the car up there was a combination of the pushbutton fasteners and screws with some of the screws missing. Is that what you guys have seen too? The reason I ask is I was curious to know if someone had already removed it before I purchased the car. I still have it off, but mean to put it back on sometime soon.

to the person asking about another type of setup. i did see someone is offering an aluminum pan that replaces the tray and it bolts on . if you do a search you may find it. if i come across it again. i will repost. it looked nice but was alittle pricey, i will probably convert mine to metal fasteners and clips like speakers are installed with. should work for most of the holes.

PS is it me or why would someone attach a metal bracket with plastic screws. i understand all the lightweight plastic parts . but the last middle bracket under the car is dangling down seems unsupported and held loosely by to little plastic screws , poor design.

I ordered a new set based on the part number listed for the undertray fastener and I got a new type of fastener that doesn't involve unscrewing, you just lift up the center part with a flathead screwdriver... it's way better. I destroyed some of the old fasteners by scraping them over a parking block and they were a ***** to remove...

The undertray is probably to smooth out the airflow to reduce drag and therefore increase speed.

Plenty of other cars don't have them and they do not get damaged in heavy rain. It could possibly be to keep gravel or other items from entering the engine compartment for rallying.

That would depend on what you want from the car. If you're just drag racing, who cares. If you're doing any track events you want to front plate doing it's job. diverting air to the brakes and generating down force while reducing air getting under the car. Start cutting hoes in it, and you may only notice less front grip and brake fade..

I would also add cooling to the transfer case. Otherwise 100% right on the mark.
