Real or Fake JDM Rear?

Hi all,

I just got this "JDM" rear bumper in (I wont name the vendor just yet) and I cant quite tell if its the real thing or not...

Im currently in NJ and the bumper got shipped to my friends business and he unwrapped it and took some pics of it and some things are just throwing me off.

Any input on this would be appreciated, I don't know why it would come in a VIS box but apparently to save space for other parts they hipped in from Japan they ditched the JDM Mitsu boxes and then boxed at their facility to ship.

I thought that the bumpers would be a primer white color but apparently my friend said its a dull black like it hasnt been painted which would also make sense though, the tow hook cover is painted GG though... The other thing that throws me off is the notch with a hole on it where the exhaust cut out is but then again I found one that claims to be legit with the same thing.....

Thanks in advance!

Looks real to me, I don't remember that notch in mine though, and last time I heard they did stop painting them

Looks real. And yeah they wont come painted anymore from Japan but the tow hook covers should be. And from my understanding, they ship a bunch of bumpers in a large box togethere and when they get here the vendor usually puts them in their own box. Should be covered in thin wrap like yours is.

I think you are fine.

I do not believe that mine has that notch and it shipped to me in the oem mitsu box (which i think is actually slightly smaller than the box yours shipped in.)

The thing that seems sketchy to me is the "Evo 9" text on the inside of the bumper and the lack of a mitsu logo anywhere. I don't think I've ever seen an OEM mitsubishi part refer to the Lancer Evolution as anything other than that. I don't think they would abbreviate like that and call it an Evo 9.

I tried searching the 6410A175K number on your bumper, but the best I could see was that it does fit a CT9A. Everything else was in Japanese so it wasn't too much help.

It might be real, just my observations.

I've seen some BaysonR replica JDM rear that have removable tow hook part. while others replicas are molded. Most of the replicas I've seen are not molded right at all; license plate area and lines on the rear is all wrong. Yours look right to me.

Problem is Bayson R fits really well

I'd contact Bayson and send them the serial number picture and the exhaust cutout picture and ask

That, or people here with real JDM rears can check the exhaust cutout

That looks real buddy. Dont sweat it. I just got done with mine and the cutout on the exhaust hole is there on mine too. And I know mine is real because I bought it from Cherryhill Mitsu in NJ. The replica ones Ive seen usually dont have the grooves in the bumper and/or the license plate cutout is different. From what I see yours is OEM.

I just went to check the rear bumper on my car ( JDM evo 9 RS) and it does have that notch by the exhaust hole, also has those letters and says evo9, so you have a 100% legit rear bumper my friend
