Question One Touch Window Regulators?

So I recently purchased a 2006 Evo IX. The powered windows move pretty slow. I would like to upgrade them to one touch up/down when I replace them. Does anyone know of any parts to do this with? I have read all four window regulators are different. Has anyone tried this or know where to look for parts? I have done some searching on here but have not found any threads about this.

lynex, welcome.

FWIW, the drivers side should be one touch down only. If you wanted to put one touch regulators in for the others, you'll be on your own as it will be "custom" although you may be able to use a regulator out of a different vehicle.

I can probably tell you that it will be much more trouble than it's worth...

Most vehicles (ours included) have the auto function incorporated into the master switch. The only mainstream vehicles I can think of that have auto functions built into the regulator are early 2000 era Lexus, and even those use the master switch as well, the regulator itself is what houses the fail safe though.

Managing to find another master switch with four way or even two way auto up/down that will fit your door and not require regulators to go with them.... good luck with all that.

You can modify car alarm hardware to make it work however, hell you could probably even build your own latching relay for each motor, you'd just need to incorporate some sort of timer chip so it know when to/when not to latch, so you can make it stop in the middle if need be the case.

In other words..... No.

EDM\JDM evo8 has only drivers window up\down one-touch, EDM\JDM evo9 has all four up\down one-touch. Swapping the whole drivers button panel makes all four windows up\down one-touch on evo8.

sorry, no specific info for usdm evo...

any proof on this?

I'd be interested in finding an evo 9 switch panel if so, should be a straight swap to USDM cars if it's all in the switch housing

I did that swap by myself on my own evo8. Everything works fine. Just swapped the switch panel from EDM Evo9. The safety feature works too. If you put your arm in the window when it goes up - it will stop, and go down a bit.

You may also give it a shot with a switch panel from common lancer (not evo), but I haven't tried that myself.

As for USDM evo compatibility... AFAIK USDM has door-lock button on drivers switch panel and EDM doesn't have it.

Hope that helps.

So do you know where to locate the switch?

Any idea what the part number is for the EDM switch you used?

Yet another thing the USDM market didn't get, but that's awesome!
