Engine problem

I am a newb with an evo 8. I just found out that my ignition was blown but came to find out that the spot that holds the spark plug will not tighten the spark plug up. Seems like theres no thread to twist the spark plug into as it just drops in. Is that the cyclinder header or is it the block? Help need asap.

Threads are in the cylinder head. It is probably repairable, but it isn't really safe to repair on the car, it needs to come off the block.
Better option is to get a good head; the repair might hold, but I'd be thinking about that thing every time I went into boost.

do you have an suggestions on what type to get? after looking at the parts and stuff it did look like the cyclinder head but i'm afraid it might cause more damage to the block also.

The aluminum that used to be the threads went somewhere. And that somewhere is your engine/turbo.

I'm asking for help not for comments that people want to make jokes out of.

I wasn't making a joke. I was saying that the aluminum didn't magically disintegrate. You stated that you were worried about damage to the block and I was confirming that possibility.

I understood. I thought it had threads on it but if it were to have an aluminum thread that can be replaced or does it happen to say that i would need a new cylinder head.

The threads are stripped out in the valve cover. It's actually magnesium not aluminum. Either pull the valve cover and put a helicoil in it or I wold just do it on the car. Doesn't take alot of time.

My bad read it wrong not the valve cover. I think you maybe be able to get some sort of helicoil for the spark plugs not sure thou maybe someone else will chime in.

Now that you mention it and i googled on fixing threads. Is it possible it might just be a good fix instead of buying a new head?

It is the cylinder head and stripped spark plug threads are way common. It is repairable. Have the car hauled to a good shop and bring money.
