This will be my last post in the topic. I'm a mechanic for a living, so chances are I've had more "experience" with cars than you have.

Let's for arguments sake that you're right and no extra fan is needed. Cool. No harm done. But then let's say you're wrong. What will happen then? Head gasket, melted pistons, steam shooting out of radiator in stop and go traffic? How much will that cost to fix?

Op, I leave it up to you. It's your car. You know what you do with it. You know how much you're willing to risk on internet "experts and forum searches."

To the mechanic part doubtful. Depending on your age and years worked obviously.

To OP

How about he "risk it" on real world ****ing exp, 4 years of summer stop and go traffic, and 60k+ miles

Can someone please tell me if we are talking about removing both the rad fan and the ac fan or just remove the rad fan and leave the ac fan in? Or vice versa?

Didn't mean the thread to turn into a shlt show. Logic would lead me to believe you NEED the radiator fan, but I have seen a whole lot of Evos without the rad fan. Hmmm. I'll have to contemplate a little harder, rather be safe then in a shltty situation.

Search there are tons of posts on this over the years.

Yes we are only talking about the inner fan in the bay on the back side of the radiator.

GSRboi seems to be the only one who knows about this topic from any real experience. Everyone else is thinking off common logic like I was. Gonna give it a go and see for myself.

That fan is big and heavy. Tempted to get rid of it too but chicken to try. :-)
Wish there was a slim line kit that looked professional and not just zip tied in.

Yea you'd have to fab some brackets if you are not going the Zip Tie route.

I have one sitting in my garage, never had a need to install it.

I know on this forum there are some thin fan threads. And yes if you are a bit handy you can mount a thin fan in the existing fan shroud with slight modifications and mount the fan as the existing on is--no fabbing additional brackets. and a much thinner option that clears all other piping and parts nicely and is much lighter. Good Luck.

Excuse the 3 year old thread revival...of course this is intended for aftermarket aluminum radiators, not the oem plastic one. Interesting to see if any others who have gone the fanless route can chime in

Unless you did something to your car, the engine went pop and you are certain what you did caused it, we are just talking opinions. Also, is every Evo the same? More like no two, unless stock, are the same. Do we all live in the same place in the world with the same temperatures and humidity? Do we all drive the same? Are the driving conditions the same? So, becoming upset when someone's experience (or inexperience) and opinion is different than yours is silly (just my opinion).

I'm not sure to whom your reply is intended for, being that I resurrected a 3 year old thread, I'd like to say that if your reply is directed to me, I'm not in any way upset

It wasn't directed at anyone. I just saw this thread as a good place to remind people that what is being solicited in almost any thread is an opinion. I've offered information concerning my experiences and have frequently had people completely disagree or say the opposite. This is normal. On some occasions it was a good thing the OP didn't listen to me.
