Evo 8 OEM HID

I have 05 evo 8 SSL model which has factory HID.

The problem is HID isn't bright enough, so I have to turn on fog light everytime..

It seems like I have to split the wire to run aftermarket HIDs.....

I was wondering is there any other way that I don't spend too $$ on OEM HIDs and not spliting the wires ?

Have you tried changing the bulbs?? Is your leveler set at "0"? Is your car lowered?

It is lowered, but not that much and yes I tried to set leveler 0-5 and still not bright enough. I havent tried to change bulbs yet. Is there any aftermarket bulbs I can use with stock ballast and wire?

If it's stock order a set of D2S bulbs and your good. Ideally the the CT9A headlights aren't so bright to begin with. It has to do with the projector. I really don't like them, but I barely drive my car at night to barely care.

Oh.. so the bulbs itself would change a lot?

so if I buy D2S aftermarket HID bulbs then I can simply plug in with OEM ballast and wires?

They are working just fine, but not bright enough just like you said I can only see a couple fee infront of me. I feel like that the fog light(Yellow nokia) is even brighter than low beam HID..

i have the same problem, i just havent had the patience to fix it, you just need to adjust them up since your car is lowered. i just have lowering springs and i can only see a couople feet in tront of me, but they are still bringht try adjusting the hids 1st, i know they are probably on full up there are threads how to do it

but to my understanding the easiest way to do it is take the bumper off, pull up to a closed garage door, mark where the lights are at with tape, then shut off your car take out your headlights, then you gotta disconnect the cable gear from the part that moves them (like the motor part, not the gear and sprocket side) then adjust the motor by that little tiny section of that motor part that looks like you might be able to fit like a 5mm wrench on to, honestly i would just use a vice grip or pliers. OR i think there is a way to get a skinny phillips head on one of the other holes in the motor part and rotate it. the side with the white wheel gear is the highbeams side.

i just say to disconnect the cable from the mototr to get rid of the resistance that the high bean gear is going to give you when you try to rotate the motor part. i would have someone watch that motor when you adjust the light from the inside 1st just to see what direction you would have to turn it. then after your done adjusting, compare them to the tape you just laid and adjust accordingly to both sides (with the headlight installed again of course) i would personally do this 1st and see if it fixes it instead of spending money on new bulbs and noticing you can now see BRIGHTER 5 feet in front of you... i think here is the link-
