Intake manifold options

Trying to debate on porting my im or buying an aftermarket

Tried researching but all i get is MAP trying to advertise there work. So i want opinions and personal experiences

Im looking to upgrade my throttle body to 70mm or port it out for my power, and same with the IM

My main dilemma is boost leaks I have the egr valve removed and I don't want to use rubber plugs to cover the holes they constantly go bad and what if I boost and it pops off now I have a threat to the motor and lean out the motor. So can I drill and thread it to seal it? Also these
Plugs go bad making my car not want to idle also iac valve is going bad too

As you can see I use one of the egr ports for my boost guage besides teeing into the bov line or fuel pressure line

And I plugged up the other egr line and the spout on the left hand side of the bov line

Suggestions?

I would send your throttle body and intake mani to curt brown! He ported my manifold while I was on deployment and it looks amazing. That guy does amazing work. If you want to go with a bigger tb send that as well and he will port it to match and include a bigger flange as well

You can plug the egr port with a 1/8" npt Allen head plug. No need to drill just tap until it gets to hard to turn then get out shavings the best you can and install plug with some high temp silicone.

i went with the map rev3 intake mani and mil spec 65 mm combo. definately picked up some ponies and tq. much better throttle response and "peppy" from down low. only negative things i have to say is the issues i had dealing with map. i ordered the manifold, and received a rev2 manifold but was charged for the rev3. i almost installed it unitl i seen everyone else had weld marks from being cut open and when i read the full description of the rev3 knew i had been sent the wrong one. map gladly payed for shipping back and put a new one on rush since these are done per order im assuming. so the car had more downtime then i had planned not to mention i pulled my stocker off and had to put it right back on, and then do it again when the rev3 came in. if you havent pulled the manifold before, its a pain in the a$$. along with the manifold i ordered the egr blockoff, phenolic spacer, and had it coated. on the website when it gives you the option of ordering it with a phenolic spacer it doesnt recommend using 2 oem gaskets along with the spacer to prevent boost leaks, but when ordering just the phenolic spacer itself has that recomendation. well i didnt see or know to use two oem gaskets, so guess what? yep the manifold had to come off a third time to install 2 oem gaskets to rid myself of boost leaks.

now that all is fixed and right, only other issue i have had is a throttle hang issue being cause by the throttle cable needing to be lubed up. im hitting full boost around 3100rpms on a evo 8.5 turbo now at 29psi, so it definately helped with spool, but now its damn near impossible to stay out of boost.

for the money i think it was worth it since its designed for large turbos, so i still have all the room in the world to grow into it since im still on stock turbo. as for other manifolds, well i cant have any input since i havent ran any thats just been ported, and not completely cut open and re worked

and as for the vacuum caps, they do make silicone ones that do not dry rot and crack.
