Is it worth fixing or should I just save my money

I am interested in getting an Evo within the next year or so and I found this Evo at www.ecocar.com for 7900$ with 9999 miles and I’m asking you guys if its worth fixing and putting aftermarket parts except for the seats. Also how much you $$$ you think would I need to have to put this car back on the street but I would get most of this done at a repair shop that handles stuff like this. Or should I just save my money and buy used Evo later.
Thanx ahead for any input you guys would give me

Was that an accident and the owner ripped out all the valuable stuff, or did it get jacked on the street and written off?

Man, for $7900 it does not look all that bad. The back rear can be repaired and add a set of JDM taillights for $300. New seats from Sparco or Bride, new wheels and tires. At least the calipers are there. Needs a new intake and maybe a MAF, shift knob, get an aftermarket intercooler, pipes and new front bumper and new headlights whICH are pricey. ($1100 EACH?)

The hood looks intact which means if there was a front end collision, it wasn't bad. Maybe the parts were stripped off the front and there was no collision.

How does the bottom look? Does not look bad, my friend. You can get that on the road for way less than even a used Evo if the frame is okay. Get a history on it and have a pro look at it and estimate damage repairs and add up aftermarket parts which are better and in most cases cheaper than OEM.

$7900? How can you go wrong. Hey, if you decide not to do anything with the car at least you could sell the engine for close to half of that. As far as fixing the car to be drivable, check the frame in the front of the car. If its reasonably straight there is no reason why that car cannot be drivable again. Perhaps it wont be the most solid Evo ever, but hey, its an Evo.......

I dont knowl; 8000 plus you dont know for sure if there is any frame damage, your missing the interecooler, front end, needs some new body panels and the trunk area looks like it needs some work.

Plus new seats, tires and rims, and other odds and ends.

If your repairs are around 10k you looking at about 18k for a wrecked EVo.

I have heard of another guy in sfla that picked up a salvaged evo with just water damage for 6k and no other major issues like this one her.

I would add up the retail prices of all the missing parts plus an estimate on the labor and see if the price is a huge difference from buying a used one. Also note the resell price on this would be considerably lower than comparing to a used evo.

these are just numbers out of my head anf not very accurate.

intercooler 750 - 1200
fenders - ?
rear trunk - ?
seats - 1200
rims and tires - 2600
headlights - 2400 depending on what they took

right now your looking at around 7400 without labor, paint and the cost of the body panels.

7400+the cost of the car = 15300 and your still not sure of the cost of the body work.

You would be close to getting a used evo in good condition.

I'd say its def. worth. The only real body damage the car has is the rear 1/4 panel, which looks pretty minor. Everythin else is bolt ons. They only thing taht looks to be missing from the engine bay is the intake and inner cooler. Slap some rims and tire on there and some seats a few other odds and ends and you could be rollin. I would do it if I didn't already have an EVO.

BTW...The prices StevEVO8 Quoted are for new items and worse case scenario. You could look in the classified section or e-bay and find most of that stuff much cheaper. I've seen inner coolers go for slightly over 300 bucks and a good set of rims and tires for fewer than a grand. Your major cost would be the HIDS. I would go for the cheaper RS version lights. You could always use cheapo seats out of a regular junkyard lancer temporarly.
