EVO VS STI Something I found out....

Ok, I didn't know until recently so if it has been mentioned, forgive me........

Both these cars are incredible machines....So given to the right drivers, either car could win. But what I found out was, at the end, EVO will always win. Why you ask? Because the STi is electronically governed at 147mph and the EVO can go beyond 165mph....(not governed).....Yes, I have tried going that fast......

I am talking about STOCK vs STOCK, not modified......

So even if the STi with 30 more hp pulls faster on the roll, but eventually if you go far enough, the EVO will still come out on top by 20+ mph........

I just wanted to share that with you guys because I just found that out from ROAD AND TRACK 2004 ROAD TEST. Here are the results:

EVO 0-60mph = 4.8
STi 0-60mph = 4.9

EVO 1/4 = 13.4 @ 103.0mph
STi 1/4 = 13.3 @ 103.0mph

yes, but 0-60mph should not be taken into consideration because for the STi it has to shift to 3rd gear as the 2nd gear only goes to 57mph

Hmmm, you're missing my point........0-60 isn't the point in this post.......

0-60 or 1/4 mile.......depending on drivers, either car can take it because as you see dozens of magazine or reviews on the STI vs EVO, have different numbers hence different drivers.....

My point is I found out STi is governed and EVO is not......

ok man, I got you point, i was just pointing something out for everybody to know, and yes to me 0-60 doesn't mean jack sh*t, I always look at 1/4, skidpad, etc.

the only reason the sti has to shift is because it's a 6 speed... something very useful when you're doing racing that isn't in a straight line.
haha, funny thing is that i've never seen a rally course where anyone has had the oppurtunity to get their car up to 160mph. why would you care about such a high top speed if you could never legally reach it?

Anything pass 65mph is illegal, does that mean you drive 65 and under only?? From time to time, I find myself driving 120+ just to feel the speed.....I figure if I have a car that is capable of holding 120+ stable, why not take advantage of it......I don't want to regret not having the chance to go 160+ before I die........Life's short, take advantage of it........

i drive between 75-80 all the time, which is illegal... so how is it just as okay to drive 160 on the freeway? and why wouldnt i "take advantage of it" and go that fast before i die? because going 160 could be the reason you and 10 other people die. ill be looking for you on darwinawards.com. the point we are trying to make is 147 and above is just ridiculous outside of where you will take the car 99.999% of the time.

147 ridicolous to who's standard???? If so, many people would say you driving at 80 is dangerous..........So what makes you different?

Hell, some might say going above 60 is too dangerous.......So don't tell me going such high speed is dangerous for me and others because to me, anything and everything happens for a reason.....If I'm meant to die today, I will die regardless of it being in an accident, getting shot, or whatever.......That goes for others too....

If everyone thinks like you, then shouldn't all cars on the streets be governed at 65mph?? Remember, I am not you and certainly don't think like you......

well, im glad you base other peoples safety on your beliefs. i dont even understand the point you are trying to make in your post. it sounds like you are saying 147 is a good safe speed to use on the freeway, and that you can do anything you want because of this belief you have. and people do die for a reason, its people driving 147 mph on the freeway that isnt built for travel at those speeds. and where did you come up with all cars should be governed at 65 mph if they all thought like me, i never even mentioned that number. but i think they should govern cars at 65 if everyone thought like you and wanted to drive 147 mph on the freeway while others are commuting at 65-80. im not saying 147 is ridiculous at all times, if you read carefully, you would have noticed i said it was ridiculous for 99% of where you take your car. that number doesnt apply in normal driving, on a 1/4 mile track, or rally track(paved or dirt). the only place that speed seems logical is on a nascar style circuit course. and btw, thank you for reminding me that im not you, im glad you pointed that out.

I've gone 165 and I let go, but it felt like it could go more......NOTE: I did this after the flash, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.......But one thing is for sure, my rpm is at 7800 now.....

thats funny - i previously owned a sti and took it up to 160 mph bone stock, in a deserted straight freeway of course

i now own an evo and think both cars at take a while to get moving at ridiculously illegal high speeds.

Hmmmmmm, maybe Road and Track had a different batch of Sti then you do........Road and Track is pretty reputable so I don't think they will claim something that is not true........

But if you say you have gotten to 160 with your stock Sti, I believe you........
