Any vehicle with 6000 miles and under 2 years old - you are going to get SCREWED on. That's a fact; plain and simple.

If you paid a markup, that's your own fault.

Paying the markup really hurts you. Your best bet is to keep the car for awhile so you don't take such a bad hit on it. If you do decide to sell, i'd try to sell for about 25k.

I live in the ATL and currently it very difficult to find an EVO VIII used for 25K. I paid 25,900K for my car with 9K two monthes ago in ATL considering my car was 32K out the door in ATL a year ago I am happy. If used EVO's are hard to find 25-26K is a fair market price. Currently blue book is 24,600 for the EVO so don't sell it for less than bluebook.

Actually, blue book is by Kelley and not Edmunds. Blue book for retail is $32,520 for no sun roof, 6k miles in 94117 zip code. This is obviously more than what you can buy a new one for but the argument is that KBB is a took for lenders to determine the amount of a loan and not for the price of a car.

Disclaimer: please don't think you can sell your car for more than a new one because blue book values it that way. Don't be like a Honduh owner.

When you pay more than MSRP for a car, you might as well just have thrown your wallet into a fire...cause you will never see any of that money again.

The Evo VIII's MSRP is around $29k.....Thats the point you depreciate from, not what YOU paid.

If you knew you had any inkling that you wanted some luxury amenities, why on earth were you considering an Evo in the first place? It's the exact opposite of anything 'luxury' related.

My local dealer still sells EVO for 34,999 right now.

It's too lower that what I thought.. maybe I should keep this car..

oh, the reason I wanna change the car is that I want some luxury comfortable feeling...with little better gas mileage will make me appreciate.

i too have been kicking the idea around of selling my car.

I absolutely love the damn thing.. but ..sigh.. its so expensive..

for a fulltime college student with two parttime jobs, at least.

i pay like 480 a month ( not as bad as some i guess) but its also for 6 years!!

sometimes i really hate having the car in that respect.. when it comes to how much money im putting into it.

what do you think if i replaced my car with a eclipse GSX? same motor- awd, turbo.. i know the boost isnt as high, and i think a smaller turbo? but at least it would be a heck of a lot cheaper and still be fun.

also too, dont misunderstand me - i dont think the GSX would be the SAME as my evo,
im really looking to just stop spending so much money on the car and yet have something i can still have fun with.

any comments?

It depends on how you have fun with your car? Do you autocross? Road race? park in a lots and stare at other cars? or just drive it to and from work.. Miatas and Focuses and others are great inexpensive cars that offer good driving un. They are also great gas mileage cars and a whole new set of performance 195/50-15 tires will cost you less than one Evo tire..

What are you looking for in fun?

if you want to trade for a luxurious sports car sort - I will trade you straight up for my 6 speed rx-8 with duo tone leather seats, electronic everything, heated seats, all the features of a luxury car, and more. I am in SoCal too, but I also go to NorCal every once in a while cuz I grew up there. Let me know CHAN.

well although i dont autocross, i really enjoy having my evo.

im addicted to AWD turbo now, and would never drive a ford focus. im sorry( to any focuses out there)

i really like mitsu cars.. so thats why i think i would enjoy a GSX.

my only concern is reliability. if i get a GSX am i going to have to put up with alot of repairs? anyone have any comments as to their reliability?- it would be my daily driver, and i tend to put about 22000 miles on a year- i cant afford to have a car thats going to be in the shop.. it will be both my toy and daily driver. thanks

1G AWD (90-94) would be an excellent choice. For a few thousand in modifications, you could could get your 1G to about the same power level as a stock EVO.

Please don't flame me since I know driving a 1G and driving an EVO is comparing apples to oranges. My EVO is slower than my Talon but the reason I bought the EVO wasn't for all out speed. I had an Infiniti I30t 5 speed which was my "nice" car but I didn't really drive that much because it was a lot more fun driving my Talon. I bought the EVO because it was a "nicer" car with full factory warranty (but I now question that since I've been having problems with Mitsubishi stepping up to their warranty) that wasn't a compromise to drive and drove just like my Talon.

yea.. i gues that's a given with a used car- minor problems.

i went by a mistu dealership just b4.. they were all like.. oh a GSX is gonna be hard to get blah blah blah. which maybe it is.. i dont see alot of them for sale.

how much should a used GSX 97-99 with decent miles on it go for?

i'd really like to spend 10 - 12K..

is that a reasonable price?

That price range is reasonable and you should be able to find things for that amount. I've seen '95s going for as low as about $5k. I've seen cleaner, low mileage '99 models going closer to about 20k. People selling late model (with '99 being the last year of the 2G with turbo and AWD) know their cars are rare and expect a premium for them. You can kind of do a search at dsmtrader.com to get an idea of what those cars go for.

If you're just after power, don't overlook Mustangs and Camaro's you can get plenty of power out of those pretty inexpensively.
