MAF vs Speed Density Intake

Looking for a little advice on what intake to get for my IX SE. Already has turbo back, bigger intercooler and fuel pump, tuned by English racing. Also Curious what the differences are between the two intakes.
~Thanks
Nick

You can only get a speed density intake if your tuned on speed density. Our cars have a MAF so you need a MAF intake with a recirculated BOV

Watch this video. Aaron from English Racing explains speed density and it's benefits of having your car tuned on it.

Higher HP cars tend to lean toward using speed density anything under 500hp I wouldnt even bother

This.

Basically, gains are somewhat minimal if your on a stock frame/smaller turbo if you compare it to the gains from a larger T3 Setup. Most people switch to it due to having a Forward Facing setup. It also allows you to still drive the vehicle if an I/C pipe pops off and makes pulling out a bit easier as well. But in the end, gains are gains IMO. As always, its all in the tune so just make sure you go with a reputable tuner that is experienced with SD.

That's not true.

I swear by SD regardless of power level.

While the gains of speed density are minimal compared to a larger turbo setup, I feel it's still a better overall setup. Aaron mentions it in the video I posted but one of my favorite things about speed density is you can still drive the car if a intercooler pipe blows off, especially at the track. It's nice to be able to drive your car back to the pits instead of waiting for the tow vehicle to come tow your *** in

Stock airbox is good for as much power as the stock bottom end is. Much less hassle with having to rescale the MAF too, and its way more stealth.

I watched the video and its very imformative, I currently have a 25g turbo with a 3.25" diameter for the colder side of the turbo "sorry brainfart"

so anything with a bigger intake side its a good gain

Thank you for the input, my initial thoughts are to buy ETS 3" speed density intake, MAP 02 dump and MBC and have it all tuned at the same time. Luckily i am about 25 minutes from English racing.

Its definitely a preference. Here in MN MAF setups are definitely the norm. Very good video from Aaron at English regardless and did open my eyes to a few new things.

If you plan on doing road trips in your Evo you might want to re-think doing a speed density setup though

My goal is a good daily driver, not worried as much about MPG, but just a sturdy reliable build.
