Chassis gurus !!! Need input !!

Simple question ! Does the Evo VIII's and IX's share the same unibody as the base lancer such as front clip frame rails and core support ??

Input is much appreciated !!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no. The Evo is chassis code CT9A and the regular lancer es model is chassis CS7A. My buddy has a regular 2006 lancer es and I've done brakes and struts and inner and outter tierods on it for him. It looks similar underneath but interchangable, no. A lot of interior parts match up cosmetically but that's where the similarities end from my experience.

No problem. I'm assuming you got in a front end collision and need a new front clip? I know where you can get a CT9A front clip for a decent price if that's what you really need. Check out a place in Florida called TAE. Google them. I've bought stuff for my car from them. They specialize in wrecked EVO and STI stuff. I can almost guarantee they have a front clip for you. They have like 38485939292 Evo's lol and they have had every little thing I have ever needed for my car that I didn't feel needed to be new.

nope not even close. The evo chassis is completely different. Side fact it only shares one body panel with a regular lancer and thats the trunk lid.

Honestly, I'd bet there is more ignorance in here than fact.

In my experience I'd bet there are a lot of common white body parts from the lancer to the evo. That being said they are not interchangable as you'd think because of extra panels and exclusive panels for stiffness etc.

Here is a great example, the trunk is intechanable, but you think the entire rear upper dash, trunk support structure etc are exclusive?

That first part is interior trim, which might be interchangeable. The trunk support is different, it has to deal with the added weight of the spoiler.

I don't see any ignorance in this post anywhere expect perhaps you saying that there is some. Everyone was very up front with saying that the two chassis share very little in common. Also we provided the OP with where he could get the front clip he needed. Your post helps no one and is redundant. Thanks for nothing lol

I got into a front end collision about 4 years ago in my lancer es, but the interior is completely swappable, trunk swap is possible, if you swap the lancer radiator core with an evo 8 one you can put fenders, lights, hood and bumper on the front end of the lancer

engine wise will not bolt up unless you do a 4g64 swap with a 4g63 head and you can bolt everything else up. not sure exacly what a front clip is that your talking about, but click on my link here for my lancer set up and see if it works with what you need.

PLEASE DO NOT HASSLE ME ABOUT MY PAST SWAP I TRIED TO GET CREATIVE AND REALIZE IT WASNT VERY CLEAN. but I still manange to do it, I hae an evo now thats why I posted this to help this guy out

I dig what you did there, nice face lift for sure. However in the context of this thread, you could not take lancer chassis sections like a front clip and make them work on an evo. The sub frames are completely different and are not interchangeable. If you wanna talk crazy fabrication work anything is possible but i believe outside the scope of what OP is trying to accomplish.

That's not true, the facts are you actually don't know.

They make service parts for body panels, same as chassis components, so depending on which white body parts you need some likely are common. If you want to use 100% a front clip from another car, that won't be so easy... but if you're clever you can pick and choose which parts you need. The Evo would never be able to have an exclusive body from the lancer because the global volume is too low, you would not be able to afford the car. This is not how OEM's work, instead they share many panels and add or replace specific panels to make it a different white body

The truth is... I know A LOT more about this than you do, and my post was not to be a dick but express a word of caution from various ignorant posters, hence ignorant, in good spirit they give advice on something they think they know rather than something they know they know.

If you "know" so much, why dont you give some actual examples? With some real data to back it up. That might get your point across better. Claiming other people are ignorant and you know better without any kind of proof just makes you sound like a dick.
