It clamps to the existing exhaust pipe with 2 holes drilled to mount the butterfly valve inside the pipe.

Brilliant indeed. How does the switch work? Hit the switch once and it would open/close completely or does it stop if the switch is released? In other words does it function similar to the Varex muffler?

I have the Varex and it's brilliant.
I usually close it during highway cruising because it kills all drone.

I always keep an eye on the EGT and it doesn't change during open/close.

How do you install it?

Using the provided template you will simply drill two holes into your 3" exhaust (we exclusively use .065" wall tubing with an exact OD of 3.16" which is what this product was designed around) near a connection point. You slide the butterfly shaft through the holes and fasten the aluminum clamp with the included hardware. Install the butterfly plate from the connection point (be sure to use loctite!) and all you've got left is to mount the switch and connect power and ground to get the ball rolling.
@ChrisCarey
Ok so this is designed for a 3" ID exhaust pipe, it says you use a 3.16" OD pipe, How would it go with a 3" OD pipe? Can you tell me the actual diameter of the butterfly valve?

Oh ok,my apologies man i really didn't realize that concept of all this to have gases go thru 9/16" hole.

It is a momentary switch, so it is infinitely variable

3.16" is the actual measured OD of what is typically referred to as 3" tubing from RathGibson which is what we use in house. The butterfly valve is 2.825" OD.

I like this idea a lot however I would rather use the same damper idea with a boost/vac actuation more than any thing. So that the state of tune was consistent and cohesive with valve opening

My only qualm with that is getting into boost, surely a restriction such as this would have an adverse affect on spool characteristics...

I don't think going into boost should be an option. I see this as a great way to go around quiet neighborhoods and parking lots. I wouldn't consider even driving on anything past 25mph. I think that might be pushing it.

I really want one now!

It's actually quite effective in eliminating drone at highway cruising speeds as well, but if you're going to pass then I would recommend opening it.
