worn brakes at dealership??
worn brakes at dealership??
ok so i go to the dealership to check out the rally red evo im supposed to be buying sometime this month...so i go and check it out but i had'nt gotten a chance to check the milage b4 today....so im lookin around the car and notice the brake disks are kinda grooved...like they had some miles on them...so im thinkin this thing has got to have over 100 miles on it...so i get in and check it out and it reads 3.7...i mean how many times can u hit the brakes in under 4 miles....they were grooved pretty bad..i checked out the other evo on the lot and they were clean and still smooth...the salesman was only like 25 years old and he was sayin how most of the miles are from him in the backlot...and he kinda chuckled breaking eye contact...i dunno if im being paranoid or if i should be worried that these miles were hard miles..
haha all i can think of is the kid launching the car in a 30 foot parkin lot then jammin on the brakes
did any1's evo come with disks like this?..or are your disks still smooth after owning the car?

Wow, that's something..I don't think you are paranoid at all. I KNOW of instances where dealerships have disconnected speedos to get cheap miles from them. (No flames, I have actually been personal witness to it, on several occasions, at different dealerships).
I wouldn't buy that car...

exactly what i was thinking...i know the car just arived like 2 weeks ago...but some 1 could have unplugged the odometer and took it for a flogging..then plugged it back in for no 1 to ever find out....i think i might have them order me a white one since he said he can get any color..plus i know it will still be a virgin
Unplugging the speedo isn't going to do a damn thing... The miles are stored in the computers memory or something. If you replaced the gauge cluster with a one from RalliArt or a JDM cluster your milage would remail the same.
Those grooves are quit common on the Evo if the brakes have not been bedded in yet. I had grooves on my brakes for the first 400 or so miles until they seated (you have to brake them in). I now have 11,xxx miles and the rotors are perfectly smooth and warp free. Someone posted on this way back in the day when the Evo's were first being sold. My brakes looked horrible for those first 400 or so miles.
ohh no kiddin...i really want this car and the dealership seems really cool besides my doubts about the car being driven...i didnt notice if my civics brakes did this...didnt care enough to look
im goin back sat to do paperwork...ill take a closer look at em then

there is NO way you can grove your rotors in 4 miles. now in the right situation you could possible warp a rotor but almost impossible. first off when you groove the rotor it is usually the Rivet in the brake shoes. 2nd in order to get uneven wear you would still have to glaze the brak e pads. it cannot be done in 4 miles. now either someone is changing the Odometer and the dealer ships can change odometer at least on the GM cars with the computer and corporate office , I have seen cars get damaged and dash has to be replaced. but this is rare and why would they , they can just drive one and put 100-300 miles on it and still sell it. i would believe that its just new and new Rotors need to be broke in or the disc is bad from the factory. either way you can get it done under warranty if they pulsate or squeal, big TSB on this issue.

the brakes really arent the problem...if there groved its just a good reason to upgrade...the problem is how they got em like that in 4 miles

After all, Evo's are still based on econoboxes...
