OEM IX tire question
OEM IX tire question
Over the summer I bought a 2006 IX with 27k miles with two sets of tires. The car had all seasons with some major uneven tread wear. The oem ones still have the knobbys on them however they sound like a steam roller going down the road and when braking.
My question is I know the alignment must be jacked up due to the uneven tire wear on the all seasons however what could be making the newer oem tires with no sign of damage sound like steam rollers.
I thought they were cupped but after having the car on the lift they look fine.
Thanks

Those OEM tires are 8 years old they are probably dry rotted and hard as rock. Replacing them is your best bet. As far as the alignment goes is it pulling or drifting, steering wheel not straight? Tires could be worn from lack of rotation. Either way it's never a bad thing to get a car on an alignment rack.
Edit: If your getting noise while braking you might want to check your brakes, bearings and front end in general.

The tires have no rot or cracking , is there a shelf life for tires?
The brakes are good its basically only noticeable when the wheels are moving it did this with the other all seasons also.
