Sold Evo… Problem already 1st day?

Ok so I need your help to help me solve/verify info

I sold my evo today about 8hrs ago roughly. I get a text about 30 minutes ago saying the clutch is stuck to the floor and won't go up. He was going 55 shifted to 5th and it just stuck. He got home and found fluid all over the motor

So obviously something happened to the slave cylinder or the reservoir? I don't know much about clutch related things

My question is

1. Could this have happened from him not shifting properly? or going hard on it?

2. Up until selling it I had no symptoms of anything finicky with the clutch. Are there symptoms before a slave cylinder goes bad?

3. Other possible causes?

The biggest question is should I be responsible for this? and is there an easy fix?

Did the bill of sale you had the buyer sign say you were selling the car, 'As Is' and that you are not held liable for anything that happens to the car once they take ownership?

If yes, they can jump in a lake.

If no, you might want to work it out with them.

I signed a bill of sale saying as is BUT they have 3 days to have it inspected by an independant mechanic

Just did some more research I am almost 100% sure its the slave which apparently is not that expensive to replace if you do it yourself

still I had no symptoms up until it went…….

It depends on the state. Some states are buyer beware in dealing with private parties and once money is exchanged and title is handed over, it's a done deal whether there is a bill of sale or not.

Could have broken the clutch line also. What clutch is in it?

Also if theres brake fluid on the valve cover or anything painted, tell him to get that off now or the paint will slide right off it.

Not sure exactly. I just know that it is heavy duty street clutch twin plate. Clutch was going out roughly a year or more ago and I had it replaced by a shop and didn't really ask the brand to be honest. I just let them replace it with what they think is best (it was a performance shop that had worked on eves before)
