Does rear diff = AYC?
the AYC is some sort or YAW control and the USDM Evos don't have this... I THINK... and you mean LSD, which I believe is what the 8/9's have in the rear...

His location is New Zealand so chances he is talking about a USDM setup are low 
. OT AYC != rear diff. On the non US cars that have AYC you can disable AYC and still have a working rear diff
