Looks like a power steering or ac compressor bolt.

5" long - 11mm dia - 17mm bolt.

I checked the t case and all seems well. But I may be missing the contact point. I'm trying not to disassemble anything....

there is a bolt for the block to the transmission that is behind the transfercase-- you cant completely undo it without removing the transfercase. Look down there and hope that's not it.
