Unmolested 2004 VIII GSR - help with pricing...

Greetings,

I've owned the VIII for about 8 years now - almost 200k on the clock and am the 2nd owner. I bought it with 23k.

It's been dealer maintained, timing belts religiously changed, stock clutch expensively replaced by dealer with another stock clutch, etc, etc.

Did I mention unmolested? As in unmodified? Well - unless you count the shorty antenna... but I digress.

I'm looking to get a new car (possibly an X, haven't decided) but want to sell the VIII first. Any ideas on value? KBB is absolutely worthless as it says it's still worth $12k.

Thanks in advance!

I can't speak for Florida's market unfortunately, but here in northern CA I just picked up my 03 VIII with 121k on the clock, mild mods, and clean title history for $13k. KBB is $12.5

Being unmodded is a good thing to some, but I was going to mod anyway so the mods I saw as a cost the previous owner incurred to my benefit.

I would start at KBB retail value, and go from there. Nearly 200k is a lot for these cars even being as good as they are.

As the dealer what they would give you for a trade in towards an X. That will give you your baseline. If they say like 6k then try and do private sale for 8k or something you know what i mean?

Are you thinking it's worth more or less than $12k?

realistically, you could get 8k, it has 200k on it you say it unmolested but with that millage the person wont believe you. And its a 04, 03-04's dont hold there value that much like 05-06's do

condition of the car is a factor. is the interior/ exterior flawless? 0 rust or fade? worn/ rips in seats? everything works?

I'd pay 11-12K retail, private party your probably looking under 10k if it were absolutely spot on in and out. otherwise... 200k is 200k and your looking at a very limited market for that car with that many miles.

When I kbb this car, I get just over $9K for an "excellent" condition car.

my .02... don't expect to get more than 9K, would probably sell quick for ~7K though. Its still a running evo with a clean title I assume. hard to find at that low of price no matter what the miles.

as a matter of fact, if you want to sell it for 7K, PM me

expect 8k, my friend had the exact same situation with his mint 03 evo with 200k on the clock. he couldn't get 10k for it even in a military town

My friend just sold his Evo for $12k with under 100k miles. Thing had a salvage title and you can tell the previous owner hit a guard rail with the body condition. There were a lot of other problems too but the kid still wanted to buy it (yes, a kid). It really all depends on the buyer and how badly he wants the car. I'm guessing that it was the only Evo he can find on CL that was affordable.

Thanks, all! I'm actually not a fan of the X and want a bit more room so looking at an '11-'12 WRX 5-door. I don't sell to or buy from dealers though - no sense in paying them to do what the Internet does for me.

A lot of it is condition of the car. Me.. I'm not afraid of miles, but that would be something I would still negotiate on. I'd say 12k would be fair ASKING if the body, seats, interior, trans, engine are all nice. I would probably settle for 10k though.

Good luck, sorry to hear you're going with wrx. Honestly the X has more room than the previous evo's did.

The interior is worn (200k I mean) but no holes (except the floor mat, which I'm replacing regardless) in any of the interior. Exterior is shiny - I've zaino'ed it on and off for the 8 years I've had it. Clay'ed it two or three times. Stupid Brembos are peeling again of course, but that's par for these beauties. At least my rear wing hasn't bubbled since I had it replaced.

The X is an amazing car - but I just want something different after 8 years.

I agree (Evo's with clean title/no accident should be over 10k minimum). It a rare performance car, and if the condition is still really good at 200k, it is just the motor, can always be swapped for something new or rebuilt.
