Just Failed Emissions Testing. Please Help

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a 2003 Lancer Evo from out of state and had it shipped to my home state of Washington. Took the car to get an emissions check and failed for an unlikely reason. The link is the copy of the emissions testing results; any advice or help would be great.

Thanks in advance

If I'm not mistaken you're going to need a flash to set obd checks to pass. Or something else that a guru might know. Luckily you're close to E.R.

"FAIL - Due to all OBD readiness monitors being set to completed" makes me suspect the ECU was already changed to force all OBD tests to pass and they detected it.

It looks like your car was already flashed with a rom containing the forced pass patch. Our cars were not equipped with all the monitors selected. You will need to remove A/C System Refrigerant, Secondary Air System, and Heated Catalyst from the Monitor Available/Monitor Passed lists.

I'm going to say I'm not real sharp when it comes to tweaking the ECU and setting them to pass. But WHAT IN THE HELL does removing the AC refrigerant have ANYTHING to do with smog problem???? I think you are more than talking out of your ***.

If I am wrong please feel free to enlighten me as to what it does to anything in the smog system.

The bastards are getting wise to the cheats!

<data>EGR system</data> <data>Oxygen heater sensor</data> <data>Oxygen sensor</data> <data>A/C system refrigerant</data> <data>Secondary air system</data> <data>Evaporative system</data> <data>Heated catalyst</data> <data>Catalyst</data>

There's the xml for the force pass. I see a/c system refrigerant as an option. So if you set that to pass since the evo doesn't use that one it throws a red flag and then you fail emissions. Make sense?

^^^^^^^^^^^

Ya you can't set everything to pass...... your car doesn't have AC system check or Secondary Air check etc etc.... if you set them to pass, it will fail you. They know what you do/don't have.

Everything has been set to pass in the ECU, including things that are not factory equipped in the car like "AC Refrigerant". It is clear to the testing center that the ECU has been tampered with.

These patches are for off road use only anyways so you don't have to see the check engine light.

Good enough I stand corrected!

I didn't see in the post where it said that he didn't have AC. It's amazing what they can find to ream you with.
