Alright so i have about 2k to spend roughly i have an evo 8 with stock turbo ported hotside and manifold 24 psi 255 fp intake all the basic stuff.
so ive wanted cams for a while now and im not sure if its worth it i wont be doing myself and shops are quoting me 2000ish for s2s arp studs springs retainers tune and all that im not sure what kinda power id be making after that.
but i have a problem my exhaust is kinda ****ty and it rattles (pipes on the inside of the pipes) and im thinking its gonna sound annoying as **** with cams rattling the pipes and from what ive seen nice exhausts are about 1000 bucks

TLDR not sure if i should go with cams or go down a diffrent path help me out pls

New exhaust and a IX turbo + tune?

 

I don't know about the rest of the people here, but an exhaust that rattles would drive me through the roof. I don't mind things on the inside making noise, but if other drivers can here my beater pulling up to the light and the exhaust is rattling like crazy.... yea find a good exhaust. Shouldn't be too expensive if you find a used one locally.

Also, like what VanduzerWilliam said, if you are getting close or already past up any scheduled maintenance, I would get on that before adding more mods. You seem to have a decent number of power mods, how are the brakes and suspension?

 

If you pick u some used cams you can install them yourself, but get a tune from a reputable shop. Headstuds can also be done by yourself, look in the "how to" section.

 

Get a good used exhaust for cheap and you should still be able to have a shop build the top end and tune the car.

 

if u install cams, get it tuned right on the spot, otherwise u might be in a lot of trouble
