Why does my WGA look like this?

Looks like it has rust on top of it and spool is slow. Eyelet is all the way down...

Got this opened up and its all gunky and nasty inside. The diaphragm has to be bad. Could this explain my lazy spool?

I'd say so.

This is the reason mitsi added that little cap onto the shaft on the factory actuator, evo4s didn't have the little cap and had this exact problem.

No doubt it's bad, the one on my IV went right after I bought it. Order a new one you'll be amazed at the difference.

How old is that blown WGA? Chances are you are out of warranty so might as well pick up a new one.

The only way i could really see all the gunk getting in there is from your PCV. Stock/stockish intakes will suck that stuff right out of the valve cover. You could try sourcing your boost further up stream to try and help prevent it getting junk in there. Or a catch can maybe. This does seem really unusual though and im curious what turbosmart comes back to you with.

I have a catch can between the IM and PCV, get clear gunky liquid mostly. IC and all pipes are clean, Intake tract is clean as well.

I was talkin about the line that went from the valve cover directly into the intake (pre turbo).
