Unhappy Missed 4th over rev

Leakdown test to follow soon, but if all ends well, Ill be entirely shocked and impressed by the stock valve springs on the evo 9

I currently have s2 cams with STOCK springs. rev limiter set to 8k. yeah yeah yeah.

But I did a pull from third and shifted at about 7.5k, missed fourth and accidentally downshifted, hitting second

I shouted '****' at the top of my lungs as I saw my tach shoot decently past 9k, resembling my 600RR momentarily. I saved her as fast as I could, but I cannot determine exactly how long it remained in gear. It was long enough to send the pretty girl riding passenger flying forward, though.

This has NEVER happened to me EVER, and I blame a wad of tape on my sole which caused the clutch pedal to stick slightly, right at that moment, for the first time. Must have messed up my equilibrium or something. I pulled the wad of electrical tape off and threw it out my window in disgust; mostly with myself. The stickiness remained, much like the gut-wrenching shame and embarrassment of my mistake. But I still hit them *** cheeks.

From my calculations, the engine should have turned to over 10k

with valve float risk already in the red zone because I'm a cheap bastard, I'm not entirely hopeful for the leak down test result. As of now, there are no symptoms of mechanical upsets.

stay tuned

Dang did you hit gravel mode? I hope all goes well with your stock head
Other than that, you should write my essay. The way you wrote your experience sounded like I was reading a story.

I once missed a 4th to 5th and ended up at 10,5. Car survived. Just cross your fingers, do a leak down test for peace of mind if you must.

This is why 3-4 shifts are done with your palm facing the passenger seat and not the driver seat

If it exhibited no issues after you should be fine, but for the love of god upgrade your valve springs.

A buddy of mine in did this in his IX, I was on his *** in my old VIII and was lucky I had decent brakes, was about an inch from his back bumper, lol. Only damage was a couple bad valve stem seals, a cake walk in the grand scheme of possible resulting failures.
