Help...Concerns about P/C Valve Cover

So I had my valve cover powder coated and not only does it not match the stock color (as requested), it's not a wrinkle coat (as requested), but most importantly the inside of the valve cover has a fair amount of powder coating on it.

I've had a few coated in the past and never has the powder coater coat the inside?!

I'd assume this could be bad news for the engine if the paint began to break down or chip over time.

I'm upset over the color and no wrinkle coat, but I've waited so long for this damn thing that I'd keep it, pending the over spray on the inside couldn't wreck my engine.

What are your thoughts on this? Will/Can the over spray hurt my engine?

Also here is the ceramic coated manifold, I'm very pleased with this!

Couldn't you technically just use aircraft stripper on it and get all of the over spray removed?

Wow man I wouldn't have paid for that. I would demand a refund and get it done again somewhere else.

I could, unless of course you paid good money for this service then you had to drop several hours of your personal time into it to remove powder coating.

That's what I'm leaning towards, but I was hoping somebody knew something I didn't.

Don't use it. I think it can cause problems. You got some crazy overspray.

This might help. http://www.1130cc.com/forums/archive.../t-150609.html

those were ones that were probably done better than yours too.

another post guy said it happened to him on his 4cyl turbo like our cars. I know that's a Harley forum but I'm sure it can happen to us too.

it looks like he just laid it down on a bench and applied the powder without taping anything off, the top looks great but all of that media will ruin your motor get into the rings and stuff

And I get what you're saying, but worst case scenario, you spend an hour of your time. You shouldn't have to, but I've had to fix plenty of mistakes other people have made.

Why just settle and use it if you are NOT happy with it? It's not like your car is down because you don't have your stock one...

Thanks for the help, you've all answered basically what I assumed.

It's headed back, just waiting for the guy to get back to me to see how we're going to handle this.

Thanks again.

Yah looks like that is jacked up. Some may say you are okay but not sure its worth the risk. The baffle is coated and and the seals may not sit right. I had a similar issue and I didn't risk it. I was worried they sand blasted the baffle and got sand in there. I just wasn't confident it was clean.

did you get any response from the P/C as far there process on how they did this and to why they did the inside?

Also, make sure your oil cap closes properly with all that powder coating on there.

No response yet, but hopefully he'll get back to me and make this right.

0 reason why there should be overspray on the inside unless he didnt tape it off (which he clearly didn't

i'd demand a full refund. if you paid with a credit card or paypal you can always have them handle it if he doesn't want to refund you
