Anybody else hear this

My dealer called me and told me that he went to a rally thing in oakland where showed a picture of the Evo VIII and that confirmed that they were going to only produce 5,000 evos? Can anyone else confirm?

Yeah, 5000 sounds about right for the USDM, considering how the Evo has always been and probably always will be a limited production car. As for the Evo VIII, i think there're pictures posted somewhere in this forum.

I don't remember which mag I read it in, but Mits expects to only sell about 17k of these in the first 3 years! FOOLS! The WRX sold their year expectations in 6 months, and the numbers are still climbing! Mits should expect to sell 17k of these in the first year if the dealers don't go price hiking! That's how I see it. So... 5k of these a year... Yeah, that's probably right!

I totaly agree with Boosted on leaving it as a rare car (not that 5000 makes it that rare, but at least it wont be everyware like the WRX.) Although by flooding the market with WRXs thier is now a great, cheap, and huge after market for the WRX that would be nice to see for the evo 8 as well.

the evo will have a huge aftermarket even if we only get 1000 of them, you can always order parts from japan

Limited production = limited aftermarket more often than not. The more common a car is the more weight it carries in that respect.

You will not necessarily be able to order parts from Japan because there is no definite public knowledge of how much was changed/rebuilt. Don't be suprised if a good bit is changed especially with the diffs and transmission (with the rumors of a 6spd and all). Of course there is still the possibility that MMC will do a worldwide release of the Evo VIII in which case the car will be FAR from rare.

All I have to say is be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it.

First off an intake is an intake, as long as you have a good ecu. I thnk APC makes a very good line of basic products for very good prices. Im not saying id ever buy one of thier exhausts or chips ( not that they make one); but I dont see why I should pay AEM 150-250 for a 4 foot piece of steel pipe and a cotton gauze cone filter, when APC charges 45 for the same piece of pipe and same filter?

I just hope you are right about thier being a HUGE aftermarket.
