Unhappy Missing my old Evo

Back in 2012 in preparation for the new addition to the family I traded in my 2006 IX SE for a loaded 2012 S4.

As much fun as the S4 was, it never really came close to the Evo and a year later I realized that the car seat and the stroller didn't really fit, so I traded in the S4 for a Touareg TDI.

I traded it in in SoCal but it was auctioned off and ended up in Illinois.

I keep waiting for my old Evo to come back on the market, but so far days and weeks and months have gone by and nothing.

The wait continues, but in the meantime here's some pictures from the dealership that won the auction:

I have to disagree with that last statement. Nothing better than being a dad.

I don't get your rationale. The Evo IX has plenty of room for a baby seat and stroller. In fact I can fit more stuff in my IX trunk than in my wife's mid sized SUV.

yeah I was amazed when I got my Evo how big the trunk is and deep too. My 2014 Jetta has a big one too but the Evo is bigger I think.

That decision wasn't about space, it was about side impact protection.

If you ever take your door panels off to install new speakers, you'll see how much side impact protection there is. Pretty much none.

With a baby on the way, that started to worry me.

I had always thought our cars had good impact ratings.

Front and rear yes, but not from the side, and especially in the front.

I want to say that it's something like 2/5 stars for the front doors.

Having also taken off the door panels on the S4 and on a Jetta, I can tell you firsthand that there's a huuuuge difference.
