Texas Mile

Has anyone done this event or other 1 mile events? If so, what speeds did guys see in Evos? I saw on the website that 2 Evo 2's ran 200mph and 223mph respectively. http://www.texasmile.net/pdf/050511-...rsVehicles.pdf

wow so it's probably reasonable to assume I could reach 170+ with my mods then?

I would think so. Have you ever used the speed to gear calculator? I see you have a 64 block and an ultimate ratio trans.

Got the gear ratios from Shep racing and plugged everything in on a calculator I found. It estimates I could hit 177mph. That was based on the gear ratios, shifting at 8000rpm, and a 245/40/18 tire diameter. With the 2.4 block I have longer rods and for racing purposes I usually go to 8k rpm before I shift and would do the same in the mile. Normal DD I usually don't go past 6k rpm but my engine will rev safely to 8k no problem. If I got ballsy and took each gear to 8500, it projects 189. Realistically I think between 177-185 is do-able.

You should be good for 170+. Make sure you take the wing off.

Just curious as to why you should take the wing off? Does it not help in high speed or will it slow you down??? I know the wing does not start to working until 120 miles per hour.

The 9 wings seem to break in the center under sustained high speeds.

A small video of my car spining at the MLR 30-130 day at RAF Marham 03/11/07 - previous run of 182mph went fine, second run i removed the rear spoiler as it was bending alot at high speed; i hoped it would give me another 10mph, instead it gave me zero down force and zero stability once i came off the gas! Took a deep breath and held on until the ride finished!

Some stats from the V-Box data logging:

I lifted at 183mph and it only took 5mph for it to become unstable and went into a spin at 168 mph.

Maximum spin angle was 142.55 degrees at 114mph before starting to spin back the other way.

The spin lasted over over 330metres.

I didn't go to the youtube channel, I'm assuming that's where you got the blurb about what happened? At any rate 4 bolts and I can have the wing back on if I so choose
