Evo 9 compression numbers
Evo 9 compression numbers
Hey all,
Just checked over my 06 MR with 80k miles with I believe only a 3in cat back to see where the compression was, here are the results starting from 1:
Dry and cold motor:
145, 130, 138, 135
I did not disconnect the injectors and I pulled all of the plugs before performing the test. I also heard I needed to have the throttle body butterfly open when doing the test but I also did not do that.
I have never checked compression before but tested it twice in each cylinder. With same results.
Any thoughts? I am so new to these cars I do not know where they should be.
Thanks!
Chad

Minimum limit or maximum limit? I am trying to read all I can and am seeing a bunch of mivec cars running 130s-140s. only reason I did the test was to make sure no major damage was done from a previous owner, since I just picked it up. It has not burned any oil, no smoke, no noticeable phantom knock during throttle, no coolant issues.
If I heat it up and let the metal expand it should give me a much better gauge of health. I'll do that as soon as I can! I pulled the plugs and pretty sure they are original ngks but it didn't have any noticeable fluid or lean burn. It was a little darker around the threads but seemed to be from possible buildup over the years.
Now this car comes with a crank angle and a cam angle sensor is that correct?

Standard value (at engine speed of 250 r/min): 1,000 kPa (145 psi)
Minimum limit (at engine speed of 250 r/min): 637 kPa (92 psi)
Taken right from the manual it self....... I'm not sure if people know but there is a difference between 06/MIVEC engine and other versions
