HID conversion kits for JDM headlights

Hi All,

I realise the USDM models have different headlights to JDM and international delivered EVOS.

The EVO i have uses H1 bulbs (we only had one model of the IX, similar to the MR.) where majority of the USDM, I've noticed use HB4.

Anyhow,
I have purchased a Kit, and I realise that I will have to remove the front bar as well as the headlights to change half the bulbs on the EVOs.

Would anyone know if the wiring harness to the headlight are coloured? (red & black & TWO wires also). I may have to cut and join wiring as the universal kit did not have a specific plug to the harness.

It is difficult to determine with everything assembled, and it is insulated with plastic insulator and black OEM tape.

There are 2 Types of JDM lights, they both have different wiring looms on the lights themselves.
I only discovered this after my purchase of the 7 RS.

8 wire looms on the HID / Halogen IX / 8 lights, the 7 RS Halogens have the 4 wire.

Ill take some pics of the differences today and put them up for you.

Hi,

Thanks for looking into this for me.

I've had a look at the wiring diagrams but can't really tell how many wires that go to the actual bulb connection.

see this picture below of a typical H1 (universal) HID setup.

as you can see, everything on the right, connects together… straightforwardly to the ballast etc.

However, there is an Active and Neutral Spade type connection that requires to be connected to power source, which is the wiring hardness or loom.

This is what i need to know, if there are two wires on the car's wiring to the bulb…. if so, then i can just simplly strip the insulation back and wrap the spade connectors, teeing off both wires (without cutting the original plug..saving it incase i use it again for future)
