I feel your pain, I replaced the base antenna piece on a 2004 EVO 8 about two months ago. If you run a stubby antenna there is little give and the base piece is very brittle. The solid plastic base piece breaks off where the antenna screws in. The rubber piece under the base usually does not get damaged.

Mitsubishi sells the rubber piece and the solid plastic base together but they are around $140.

In order to change you have to drop the back section of the headliner, a real pain.

A temporary fix is to use some black silicone to glue everything back together.

Hope this helps.

Yea I super glued the plastic piece but mine doesn't have a rubber piece at least I don't think.....cause I can see the circuit board.....so I put the antenna on and just out electrical tape over my vortex generator antenna hole
