100 octane?
I spent about 2 months playing with octane mixes towards the end of last summer and seat of the pants ratings in my stock Evo.
I found I could not tell any difference between 100 octane and about a 95 octane mix. I could however, tell a difference between either Sunoco 94, Mobil 93, Delta Sonic 93 and my Delta Sonic 95 octane blend.
I couldn’t tell much if any difference on boost (above 3500 RPM) with the mix, however there was a noticeable improvement in the low RPM range. The higher octane smoothed out the power delivery off boost and made stop and go driving and low RPM launches much easier and smoother. Therefore easier on the clutch, and more enjoyable.
It has been my impression that the low RPM drivability suffers most noticeably as a result of temperature and humidity changes, usually for the worse, and using the higher octane blend helps negate some of these adverse environmental effects, resulting in the ability to launch without bogging at lower RPM’s and pulling smoothly from a lower RPM without stuttering or hesitation.
I didn’t see the need to run a higher octane mix during the winter, but once things warm up significantly, I will be running the blend all the time, I like it that much.
Just my observations and opinions, do with it as you will.

yeah i live in NJ but theres a small chance i may be moving to california.. which then i plan to run 93-ish octane via mixing since my evo is already dynoflash tund for 93 octane..
I was getting killed by modded S4's at VIR last year but was beating stock S4's, all years. Race rubber is a huge advantage, so if your brother is so equipped, he will leave you in his dust, assuming you are on street tires, like Advans. I ran low on gas at one event & had to buy 100 octane at the track-no discernable difference from the 93 octane stuff I had been running.
