My evo 8 daily driven.

Hey guys, thought I'd start a thread to show my mods and what my plans are for the car.

Let me first start off by saying the car is daily driven, 350whp would be a nice balance for the car with reliability in mind.
I have a set of tein H-tech springs for the summer.

2005 SSL
Recently did my timing belt, idlers, balance shaft belt, and water pump.
Replaced all driveline fluids the proper way.
Did all maintenance required like tie rod ends and alignment.

As for mods I bought it slightly modded:
Intake-
Injen Intercooler pipes
HKS Intake
AP Twin vent BOV
STM TB high pressure seals

Exhaust-
Burschur TBE
MR resonator
Burschur O2 housing

Turbo-
Turbo-XS MBC
10.5 hotside

Suspension-
Energy suspension Rear diff & mustache bushings
Whiteline rear toe arm bushings

Ignition:
Spoolin up COP kit
Desno coppers gapped at .026"

Fuel-
Rewired fuel pump
Walbro 255

Trans-
Energy suspension shifter base bushings
Torque solution underhood bushings
ACT clutch and streetlite flywheel

Interior-
AEM Digital boost gauge
AEM wideband in gauge cluster

Exterior-
Carbon fiber exhaust shield
Evo X GSR wheels
Vortex generator

Hoping to get some cams and a tune. Right now it spikes to about 21-22psi and I'm hitting 11:0 AFR roughly. Tempted to up the boost a little bit more and see how the AFRs look.

Anyone have advice to achieve a relatively easy 350awhp? Or will my mods alone get me there?

Your mods will get you there. You need a tune.

I've read the stock injectors and intercooler are matched party well for the peak limits of the turbo?

As for cams I'd like to keep the stock springs and retainers if possible.

This is true but if you go e85 you'll def need bigger injectors. 1300/1400 would suffice. Why don't you go e85? You're going to tune it anyways, spend $500 on some nice injectors and add some free ponies.

E85 stations are too few and far between for daily driven use.

Really looking to get some good power on a budget as well.
Might just pick up used hks 272s and a tune.

The basic mod path for a VIII: MBC, TBE, IX DV, fuel pump, tune, and cams (though, I can certainly understand why you'd like to skip the latter). The tune will make or break the car. Good luck.

I think your mods will get you there on 93. I had everything in my sig except the cams, and was at 354 whp on 93 @23psi.

Yeah I run 93 from shell religiously. Might just get a tune and leave it as is. 21-22psi is pretty good for me as it is.
I'm sure with a good tune I'd be happy.

Thanks guys!

Oh, how was the tune from mellon? Did you do an email tune?
What would I all need to facilitate this?

Really leaning towards maybe some bigger injectors. I'd like to see what I can squeeze out of the stock turbo, but I fear my IDC rates would be too high for daily use. PTE 780s go for super cheap.

I have similar mods on my 05. I did go with the Brian Crower 272 cams. Most people rip on them for not making as much power, but they have a relatively lower lift (only +1mm over stock) that IMO is ok for stock springs. The other thing I did was added an evo 9 turbo to try to hold boost better up at redline. I probably wouldn't worry the evo 9 turbo over yours unless yours is starting to go anyways.

In the winter (read "cold air temps") I can push it up to around 370whp, but I've got everything set a little lower at 350-360whp to be a bit safer/more stable.
