sell car to carmax????

I'm thinking about taking my car to car max to see what they will offer me. Got an 06 GG MR with almost 70k on the odometer. Possibly frame damage car overall still pretty good. Paint still shine with few notmal wear and tear.

What can I expect to get from them? Just to get an idea so I won't be too disappointed when I get their offer.

Thank!

Bleh, I'm not sure CarMax is much different than most places. I'd expect a low-ball, especially with frame damage. Is the car salvaged? I'm not sure they'd take it if that's the case, since CarMax basically refurbs cars.

My guess is somewhere around the 14k mark. You'd be better off selling it.

When I bought my car a few months ago (67K miles) the whole sale was $18K (which is what they will go off), but they will definitely low ball you. With the damage, I would bet it's less than $14K. They usually low ball pretty hard. Just my .02 cents.

I went to sell one there and got low balled bad. got offered something stupid like 11.5k for a 03 evo viii with 64k on it. with no issues at all so just posted on craigs and got 16.5 for it rather quickly.

If you're not too worried about your profit margin, or lack thereof, and are just trying to get rid of the car, then a place like CarMax is a good bet to take it because they buy so many cars and can flip you a check on the spot and you can be rid of it. I did the same with my last truck. I was about 1k upside down but knew if I waited long enough I could sell it for a small margin. But I needed out from underneath it so I took it to VW and traded it in and they at the 1k and gave me what I owed on it and I leased a 2014 Jetta. I don't miss that truck one bit and getting out from under it was great.

Just so you know my friend worked at car max. If they keep the car for the main lot the will pull all the after market parts off the car and throw them away. if they don't keep it for the lot the just sent it off to a whole sale auction!

I know many people to sell cars to carmax, however these are basically all Honda's or Acura's and they are normally highly desired new (like/new) vehicles which they can easily sell.

Its typically is spot on to KBB trade in value +/- $ a few hundred

In your case, they may not even accept it with frame damage, likely they'll just go to auction with it and therefore give you auction or worse prices because of the damage.

Just FYI, no guarantees

The only way you would get any decent offer is if its 100% bone stock. My buddy works for CarMax and they will not offer top dollar for a modded vehicle. Reason behind this is they cant sell a modded car on their lot, it goes to private auction.

Thanks for all the advice guy! Didn't report it to insurance so title is still clean. And I put most stock part Back on the car already, only thing left is the Downpipe and test and exhaust.

I'm just trying to get rid of the car. I got about 12.5k left on the loan, as long as the offer they give me cover that I'm let it go. I don't care for any profit at this time.

Unless some here want to buy it from me lol. I'll work in an ets 3.5 intercooler kit and Dbb fp red and Buschur double pumper. Lmk if anyone is interested.

I wouldnt waste my time with carmax if you are looking for a decent offer. I use to work there. I actually bought my evo there when someone traded it in. this was about 4 years ago. Mine is an 03 "GSR" trim. I got it with only 50k on it. Carmax only gave the previous owner 12k
