What does it book for? I wouldn't pay anymore than 90 percent of what it books for personally. I got screwed on my 9 but when it comes down to it I bought it cheap enough that it should even out. Make sure you check the compression. I bought out of state and made the mistake of trusting the tuner of the Evo I bought when he provided me the compression ratings. Needless to say when I got it home and did my own testing, cylinder 3 had compression of 115 while the others had 140+.

If he doesnt then he may be telling the truth about it. You can also look at how things are done on the car such as harness clips that hold it in place missing bolts or anything anywhere things like that will give you clues. Those are the things i would do if it were me in your shoes.
Sounds good, thanks! I'll do that.

Pictures would be great, worse case I'll just spend an hour to find it

That's what I'm scared of..

What would y'all say a good compression for it would be? I'm thinking of just bringing a compression gauge and doing a compression test myself.

If its a stock block with 170k on it, it may be hard to say what the compression should be. I would look for consistency across the board. I think a good compression range would be 150-180. Either way I would definitely do my own compression test.
