How much power can the stock rs lsd handle??

Ok, so i sent three T-cases into Shep Trans and all 3 had bad ring and pinions, the original plan was if one of the ring and pinions were usable I would Purchase a wavetrac and have a really solid tcase for my power level....Sadly all three were bad so im going to reuse my Stock RS LSD and do a stage 1 build. MY current power is 752/590. Wanted to see if anyone else is making alot of power on a stock RS LSD and had success with it not failing. If so how much power have you made with using it, rolling, launching etc.... Im looking for answers from guys making 700+. Thanks.

Did you not talk to Shep about this? Supposedly wheel hop is what breaks them and not torque.

Yes, Shep has my stuff and of course i asked. Its not recommended at that power level, but recommendation is the responsibility of the shop. That doesnt mean that people dont do it and have not had failure. Not many good shops are gonna recommend you use something that is borderline, thats why i asked on evom for people that have used them.

Im making over 700 on a mustang dyno and still on a stock 9 transfer case with over 100k miles on it lol. I however have never ran slicks on the car Im sure if it actually hooked up something might give.

I'm not at your power level but my TC has the stock RS LSD, no issues as of yet. But, I haven't been to the track or launched hard since getting up to my power level so the jury is still out. I have the Shep Stage II tranny and TC.

I have stock drivetrain with over 100K on my car making 786/530 on a mustang dyno. I have made close to 20 10sec passes on run Hoosier ET's and knock on wood haven't had any issues yet. Car traps 144mph and should be in the 9s soon. Wheel hop is what kills drivetrain, I have seen stock powered cars take out a transfer case. So to answer your question yes its possible. I do run a exedy triple disk and not some cheap crappy 6 puck clutch.

Exactly im running the quartermaster 8 leg, thats what i wanted to know, i know there's a chance at any time at different power levels i wanted to make sure the quife or wavetrac werent a necessity at this time. I was going to get a wavetrac but the cards didnt stack in my favor this time lol. I talked with MR Boost (Jason Flesher) today he ran a 9.2 on the RS diff with 1.40 60fts. Thats good enough for me, lol

Nice! im sure too much traction would probably kill it and too much spin adds more risk of wheelhop and will kill it. Damned if you do damned if you dont....

You're better off with a nice soft sidewalled slick to absorbe some of the initial shock. Realistically drag racing the car is gonna be hard on any LSD, how long the LSD lasts depends a lot on how you launch the car (to a degree).
