is this the last bastion of Evo resistance? The Alamo?
Since I got my Evo a month ago I have noticed a few things evident from old posts and remnants of what might be a world fast becoming extinct.
The Australian evo site is virually not functioning anymore. There were old posts in the mid 2000s of car runs and evo's out driving in convoys having a great time in day outings, its all gone now. No more meet ups and compare cars. No more track days for Evo v Suby comps. Its all gone. There was an evo car club but the web site is an error. There isnt even any generic jap car clubs anymore that I could tag along to. So here I am at the Evom forum, the last stand in the world?, and how many are left here now still posting out of all the thousands of Evo's once sold in America? is there a hundred active members posting? What about the rest of the world? how many active european memebers are there? So I bet there were female members here once, but where have all of them gone? So here i am with the hard liners still posting build info with a few responses here and there.....
So thats what I have observed, but dont worry I will man the cannons like John Wayne on top of the wall and keep loading those cannon ***** to the end

Ha! I've feel the same way! When I had my STI(s), it was like a whole other world. Even the minimal Evo's I see on the road, hardly wave or acknowledge. It was definitely different back in the day. Boards were crazy active and member meets were still in full swing. I saw a VW bug meet down the street from me...I was tempted to pull in and back mine in. I guess it's just somewhat died for whatever reason. What's even more weird, when I had my STI and would see an Evo the rivalry was apparent. My area is littered with WRX's and STI's and when I see them, I don't even think they know what my car is (maybe they would if it was a X?). It's definitely strange...but whatever. I build cars because I like to...not for the commodore, but it definitely was an added bonus.
I will say no, there is still an Evo group up here is Alaska, at least on facebook. But I will agree with the guy above me, the north is dominated by subies (and I would personally love to own an 04 sti or sti swapped rs) most people don't even know what the Evo is. Can't tell you how many people have come up to me thinking my car is a body kit'd honda. But honestly I like it that way, I build my car to smoke way more expensive cars and for my own pleasure, so when I smoke them it makes them feel that much worse when they think they got beat by a "2wd Honda". Who am I to correct them and make them feel better haha

I barely see evos where I live. I saw an X the other day and caught up to it to wave and it was an older woman who didn't realize or didn't care.
On a positive note, there are 4 STIs where I work ranging from 04 to fresh off the lot 14 and no evos. We all talk and wave to eachother but I'm the lone evo and I think I like that I have something different.

I have been crashing the subi meets as i am the token evo, good group of guys and girls, they have accepted me, probably cause im debaged and getting them ready for the tuner with last minute installs in the parking lot as the tuner is pulling up. there are a few other evos down here but i see them once in a blue moon.
Move to USA. We still have evo meets once every 4-8 weeks usually. Many people have moved on to different platforms and such, so our evo meets are becoming "car friend" meets, but we get by. Evo's bonded us in the first place, and a lot of us still have them

I think a lot of people garage their cars for the winter. There's just not many meets in general around this time. I did see an STI with a license plate that said H8EVO recently. Maybe there's too much hatred to have meets.
Manny, Sid, and Diego discover that the Ice Age is coming to an end, and join everybody for a journey to higher ground. On the trip, they discover that Manny, in fact, is not the last of the wooly mammoths.
I didn't have my evo back when they were new so I guess I didn't experience the same thing you guys did. I'm wondering why they don't have meets anymore, it's not like people don't want these cars anymore. Could it be the new kind of owners? I would love to go to a meet, particularly because I'm trying to decide on an exhaust and I would like to listen to a couple in person.

HOWEVER! I ran into this cool kid the other day in a X. First actual person I've talked to with an Evo up here.
Have you checked for local facebook evo groups? Local forums are dying and facebook is too damn convenient. As people starting using more and more social media they become more anti-social. Ironic.

Yeah the local forum for Atlanta (Where I used to live) is on life support). Most of the guys that have Evo's there don't meet anymore.
I'm guilty of not going to local meets in Raleigh. 90% of the time its because the car was down. This year if the car is running I will be getting out to meet people.
